We weren’t going to send any more postcards for a while, but yesterday we stopped for the night at a bijou campsite which we like. The site is at Beauvoir en Royans, 40km south of Grenoble on an escarpment above the lsère river. Behind the site the Alps loom out of the clouds. Camping du Chateau is in the gardens of a 16th century chateau, adjacent to the ruins of a 14th century castle and abbey. When we arrived early afternoon it was cloudy, but then the sun broke through, lighting up the blossom and the Spring flowers. We pitched beneath a cherry tree which shed its blossom gently all afternoon in flurries. For ‘tea’ we barbequed ‘steaks hachés’: it was warm enough for us to eat outside. We then finished our wine until the sun went down. The campsite cat, having been chased off by the occupants of the only other ‘van on site, made friends with Catherine. (To be fair, they did have a cat of their own on a string). Here’s a photo of CatnCath. The site is enclosed with a gate secured at night. The sanfacs are clean and fuctional with one of the two showers being perched on the cliff edge! Access to the site is up a fairly steep hill from the D1532.  It’s well worth a visit. Today we followed l’Isère north and east up the Tarantaise valley to Macot La Plagne. Our ‘van is parked up and we’re lodging in the village so, technically, we’re no longer caravanning. No postcard from here then?

I shall miss the postcards and I'm sure I'm not the only one following your journey. Nice pussy cat, I would miss my own pets on a long trip!
