snowbound to homebound
We have just arrived home from Coniston Park Coppice after spending 3 days in 1 foot of snow. The wardens were all brilliant especially NIGEL & KATE WINTER ( what a suitable name.) My husband is registered disabled, has diabetes and heart problems. We tried to leave the site when the snow began to fall on Thursday night, 4am saw us packing up, and attempting to drive up the incline and hopefully out onto the main road. No Chance. I kept putting a small plastic rug under the front wheels to keep us moving but we only made it to the Reception Area where we gave in and parked in the Late Arrivals hook up. The following morning we spoke with the wardens who said we could stay put as we were in the best place. I was eternally grateful for the support and offers of help. Thursday being my birthday was a one to remember - the snow fell constantly but we had a lovely time in our warm van. Saturday morning arrived and the snow was now up to the top of my wellies, our dog ( a cocker spaniel ) loved it but got back to the van full of huge balls of snow on his chest, belly and legs ! Again we met Nigel and Kate who were on their days off but they wished us all the best. After contacting Green Flag we did a quick pack up and waited, THE LADS ARRIVED - towed our car and van off site and escorted us to Greenod where the roads were clear. Thanks to the those two lads whoever they were. On our way home there was little snow and it all seemed like a dream but I am now going to upload my photos just to prove to one and all that we were well and truly SNOWBOUND. Thanks to all the staff at Park Coppice for all their help and kindness. It was our ninth visit there and next time we go lets hope for a bit better weather !!
