Old van tales - Ingrid Bergman in front of a sister to ours

Many years ago (1994 to be exact!) I was reading the Caravan Club Magazine - or En Route as it was called then - and came across an article About Haringtons Caravans who were celebrating 70 years in business. Well, one of the photos showed this photo, so I actually phoned them up to say I was still using the same type of caravan as shown in the background behind their VIP visitor Ingrid Bergman. I think the photo was taken many years previously.

Anyway, after a really nice conversation they then sent me a copy of the photo, which you should be able to see above!

As I said, we are still to this day roaming around the country in a sister to the caravan depicted, a Paladin Buccaneer. It is currently in winter storage (inside a dry barn, to keep the frosts off it!) but I am hoping to get it out after easter and we have several trips planned already!

My caravan was completely rebuilt in 1986 (stripped to a bare chassis, and then rebuilt), and has also had several other significant items replaced and repaired over the years too. All that work may one day make it to a set stories about its rebuild and re-working for a family in the more modern age!

There was no date given for the photo but it was reckoned to have been taken in the late 1950's, I believe.

What an interesting story. I believe Ingrid Bergman would have been filming "The Inn of the Sixth Happiness" judging by her costume. The film was based on the life of Gladys Aylward and I seem to remenber a lot of it was filmed in Wales (to cover for a long
    walk done in China.)
