News of a New Arrival At Chatsworth CC

We left home on Thursday for the short 40 mile journey to Chatsworth CC for our first "proper" outing in our new to us Lunar Quaser 524. The trip had been planned in part as we would not be able to get away at Easter due to our first Grandchild being due.

We arrived with after an easy journey and found a great pitch on the far side of the site near to the garden wall. It was a wonderful evening and the following day, Friday, saw us exploring the village of Baslow at the entrance to the estate before lunch at the Devonshire Arms I can recommend the "special" homemade burger a real treat and will set you up for the rest of the day!!

The afternoon was spent walking the grounds of Chatsworth up passed the Hunting Tower. The views from here are spectacular and if no one has beaten you to the bench you can happily sit and enjoy the panorama all day should you wish. The path then takes you around the man made lakes built to provide water for the fountain in front of the house many feet below before dropping back down through the woods and farm land to the house and a look at the shops in the old stable block.

A stroll back to the caravan through the "secret gate" and a leisurely evening meal - with wine of course! - before turning in for the night.

Our plans for the following day - Saturday - and the rest of the weekend, including a meal we had booked at the local restaurant "Rowleys" were changed by the unexpected event started by a phone call from our son in law informing us that we had become grandparents at 7.40am some three weeks before the due date!!!

It was a glorious Spring morning with not a cloud in the sky as the ducks scuttled round looking for tit bits and the birds chirped with abandon. We had never packed the van up so quick!!!  Having told the wardens of our departure we were soon on the road back home to see our new and first grandchild William Robert 6lb 14oz.

Both he and our daughter are well if a little surprised at the unexpected arrival.

We were very excited and I will forgive him cutting short my time in the caravan and my pitch at Chatsworth - which as everyone knows are as rare as hens teeth -!! Who knows next time I can get on at Chatsworth William may be old enough to come with us!
