Simply Unforgettable
I would like to start my 'Story' telling by posting here my letter to the Magazine which was the Star Letter in the March 2013 Edition. To my mind this summed up what caravanning is all about . . .
In response to 'From the Editor' January 2013 Edition
Sir,
Our most memorable caravan moments of 2012 have to be those spent at the fantastic Abbey Wood CC site during the Paralympics . .! To begin with, what an ideal location that was, with just a ten minute walk to the station and another half-hour train journey and we were at Stratford Park to join the thousands making their way to the Games. Inevitably we left the site with others, so we exchanged notes on what we were all going to see, and then again, when we alighted from the returning train it was usually quite obvious by the bunting festooned about fellow passengers, who was a caravanner, so we walked back together, each recalling what an amazing day we had had.
And coupled with all this was the real buzz of National Pride that one felt around the site, having already had such a successful Jubilee and Olympic celebrations - the place was awash with caravans decked in red, white and blue and Union Jacks flown from tv poles and draped over cars - it really was a very happy occasion to be part of, and caravanning had just provided that perfect environment for a wonderful week. Everyone was so friendly, the wardens so helpful and we even had the parents of certain medal winners staying there too so there was added celebrations.
Yes, we have lovely memories of that memorable occasion thanks to caravanning . . !

It sounds wonderful. We only managed a day in London during the Paralympics but found the atmosphere absolutely wonderful - everyone so friendly and talking to each other. I would have loved to have had your experience.
