El Berro Encore!
El Berro is a small village on the edge of the Sierra Espuña National Park in Murcia. It’s our favourite winter stop in Spain, and the campsite is our favourite too.
The village music festival was early this year, as was the blossoming of the almond trees, so we’ve missed both, although some blossom persists. There are another one thousand reasons for coming here: the scenery, the air, the sunshine, the birdsong and the sound of the bees, but above all the peace and tranquillity. It’s Saturday afternoon and all the Spanish caravans have come alive, so tranquillity has been suspended until Sunday evening!
There are quite a few serious cyclists (yellow lycra) and proper walkers (big boots and floppy hats), but we’ve found local walks for less strenuous outings of about an hour and a half. There are also two ‘Itinerario Touristique’ which start at the campsite entrance.
Fina’s shop is still going strong despite the opening of a second shop in the high street, aficionados of el Berro will be pleased to hear. We’ve made some new ‘chums’, and made a rendezvous with Nigel & Val whom we met here last year. The campsite is comparatively ‘busy’ and, as Cath says it’s my fault for recommending it in my Postcard from El Berro , I’m not allowed to tell you its name.
Here are some photos of this lugar precioso.

It will good if the photo loading on here can be improved for everyone as I'm sure there are some good stories and pics out there but it's quite a challenge uploading them. As usual Chasncath you're travel pics and story are lightening the February chill
over here (although we've had some bright sunshine today and more spring flowers coming out.)0 -
Hi there Brue! Good to hear that you're getting some sunshine in UK. Down here in Spainland, the sun has disappeared: we woke up this morning inside a cloud and now it's raining. Fina, from the shop, says it's the first rain since last September!
Here's a photo of our last glimpse of the sun yesterday.

If you are heading for Alvor I look forward to meeting you. Update on the A22 toll. Ignore it. I tried to post a lengthy a detailed explanation but the webmaster censored it. I travel up and down the A22 and A23 reguarly and haven't paid a cent. EU law
says they can't enforce it for non Portuguese and they dont. Will explain in detail when you arrive.Phil

We hope to be in Alvor on 7th March. After the confusion last year about using the A22, we'll be sticking to the n route. See you there Phil
There's some chilly weather forecast for here as well, lancashireladdy, with some snow a possibility!! We've met some Lancashire folk on this site already, but no Yorkshiremen as far as we can tell.
