Aug 1974 we were going on a package deal to Spain with our two children ages 5 & 10.Court line ( Clarksons) wenr bankrupt the day before we were due to leave. I had an idea that my wife tried to hire a van & I bought & fixed a tow bar to the car. We borrowed  sleeping bags fron a neighbour, left house  with no past knowledge of towing, changed our Pesetas at Doncaster drove down to Dover( took more than a day) booked a ferry & had about 10 great days in France learning as we went along,(no electrics in those days). We enjoyed it so much we bought a Monza 1000 ( for about £400 ) with the holiday refund fron Court Line. My wife & I are now in our late 70's & still caravanning & go to France every year for a month or so. We often wonder would we ever have tried carravnning if had'nt been forced into it.
