Prior to a recent trip to France we were checking all our preparations and even though my normal provider of breakdown cover indicates that European cover is a mere formality I decided to ring them and check it out.   When I told them what my intentions were I was informed that for a small additional fee I would be fully covered.  Wanting to be absolutely sure I went through some of my anxieties with the representative.  "ie" Would the car and caravan be repatriated in the event of an emergency.  " Yes, provided they were together at the time" came back the reply. So if I was out for the day, with the caravan left on a site some distance away and had an accident, only the car would be repatriated and I would have to make other arrangements for the caravan.

Not being at all happy with this level of cover I did what might seem obvious to many and took out Red Pennant cover.   In the event all went well and we didn't need any assistance but I did have complete peace of mind.  I was left to wonder though, how many people go abroad completely oblivious to what level of cover they have in the event of an emegency.

I had European cover for my car but like Baboo I called my provider.  I had a very similar reply.  My caravan would be repatriated if my car had a problem but if the caravan had a problem there would be no cover.  So like I took out Red Pennant for peace
    of mind.
