Postcard from Mošcenicka Draga
‘Dobar dan’, from the Croatian seaside resort of Mošćenička Draga in Croatia. The town is at the eastern end of the Istrian peninsula on the Bay of Kvarner. The town is backed by wooded hills which are now a patchwork of russets and evergreens. This morning the air temperature was 27C and the sea 23C.
There is a shingle beach backed by a promenade with cafes and snack bars. There is a small harbour with boats for hire and a diving school. The accommodation is principally provided by apartments in the newly refurbished grand villas. There are two hotels; one 4 star, the other 3 star.
This time last year, the crowds had gone. Surprisingly, the season seems to have been extended and there are still many Croatian and Italian families enjoying a late seaside holiday. We’re at Autocamp Draga, which is in the heart of the town. From here you can stroll to the shops, the beach, the harbour or to the coastal paths. A word of warning – ‘Fkk’ scrawled on a rock by a path means ‘Nudists beyond this point!’
Croatian ice-cream is as good as Italian, but it costs half as much for a cone and you get a bigger blob.(see photo).
Tomorrow, we’re catching a ferry from Brestova to the island of Cres and one of our favourite campsites at Cres itself. It’s the wedding anniversary ‘cruise’ that Cath’s always asking for!
Hope you like the photos.

Dobar dan
The Croatian coastline is stunning, and the clear waters of the Adriatic are lovely.
I wish I was there, we used to go a lot as kids, my dad was Croatian. I haven't been for many years but I hope to go back one day. Enjoy your lovely holiday.......
