Longleat - Pitch 129

After reading another story warning of pitch flooding I thought I'd post mine here.

We are currently staying at Longleat Club Site - an excellent site and the first time we have visited. Yesterday (Saturday night/Sunday morning) we had torrential rain and the pitch flooded. A quick walk around revealed this and Pitch 130 to be the only ones.

A chat to the Warden - they were not concerned and blamed the heavy rainfall we had had. Fair enough. By around 12 (Sunday) the main water had dried away but there was still surface water on the chippings. The ground was still wet on Monday morning and a little bit of rain this morning (not torrential like before) has once again flooded our pitch (but not 130).

Needs a few more chippings to raise it to road level I think.

Not much can be done now - and the Wardens didn't seem to be bothered about it.

What we did find annoying was that a family moved from this pitch last week due to flooding (they told us). The pitch should have been closed off  or a poster put into reception warning visitors.

Hope the heads up helps someone out.

We have just returned from Longleat after 7 nights. No problems with our pitch even after heavy downpours. But we did feel that the atmosphere was different from our previous 3 visits. Couldn't put my finger on it, but all the wardens were new..perhaps not
    settled in???

IN all fairness - we've had a lot of rain today and the pitch has stayed relatively puddle free - so it seems to be coping with the constant rain just not with the massive downpours we have every now and again.

There are still puddles of water around my awning and underneath the awning is wet but it's not as bad as Saturday.

We have stayed at this site a couple of times now, once this year and once about 2 years ago and had no problems with flooding.   I would say that any attitude problems with the wardens was not their fault but the change in attitude of the people running
the Longleat estate.   The first time we visited everything was fine and no problems with the estate staff.   The second time I wanted to do a bit of sketching of the house and when we went to go into the grounds of the estate we were told we had to have our
membership card for the caravan club on us together with the receipt for our booking.   The man who checked us out at the entrance from the caravan site told us that the wardens are supposed to inform us of this rule on booking onto the site.   He told us
that we should complain about the wardens when we returned to the site.   This attitiude from the estate employee probably explained the change of route to get to the site.

In fairness to the Warden who booked us in she told us that we would need our card to walk in.

@thewellies - I'm not saying the site had a problem with flooding - mynstory is a warning about Pitch 129.

I hope there is no confusion. The site is lovely.

Logleat used to be on my annual list but the change of attitude by longleat made me cancel this year and go to wareham.

Unless longleat reverts their attitude I wont be the only one not going.

PS Longleat pitches have flooded in the past
