Probably the best pitch in the network

As I’m sitting in my caravan pitched on what must be the best pit in the Caravan Club’s network  I though as I’ve some time on my handsI thought I would write expressing my concern that the Caravan Club have it “in for me”

Why do I believe that?  In 2010 for the first time I applied for a seasonal pitch and was fortunate enough to be allocated one at Hebden Bridge for autumn 2011. My wife took ill andwe did not get as much use out of the pitch as we had hoped. She is making a good recovery and I applied for a seasonal pitch at Hebden Bridge for autumn 2012 but wasn’t allocated one this year.

Surely, if we obtained the best pitch on the network, that should make up for the disappointment. Let me tell you where I am.  I am at Bunree . The Club handbook states “Your van can be parked almost at the water’s edge of Loch Linnhe. I’m not on any old pitch on the water’s  edge. I’m on pitch 22. This pitch is at the south western edge of the site. To my left there are no caravans.  Because of the angle of the pitches it would appear that there are no vans to my right so I’m sitting here in what appears to be splendid isolation. The only man made items between me and the Loch shore 10 meters away is a bench kindly provide by the Caravan Club. Ideally my only concern should be is there a bottle of rosé cooling in the fridge. Exercise would consist of walking from the bench to the caravan to top up my wine glass.

Instead I have time on my hand to type this sill letter. My map show we are not sitting by, as I first though when I arrive, the ocean but a lough and the other side of the loch is about half a mile away. Indeed looking at page 268 in the hand book a photograph is kindly provided which shows in all its splendour the lough.

In the persistent rain of summer 2012 all I can see is the grey water of the lough merging into the grey of the mist. Even Ben Nevis, which is not far from the site seems to have disappeared.

Can someone who has stayed on pitch 22 on warm sunny evening tell me what I have missed?

Still at lease there is one consolation from all this rain. The Scottish midges seem to have disappeared.
