Power Struggle

I am currently enjoying day 8 of a 10 day stay at Daleacres farm in Hythe Kent. Pitch 36 to be exact.

The pitch is well placed and in a quiet spot. The power hookup post is only 5 yards away. Well settled in and enjoying the area.

Yesterday (1600hrs) warden spoilt this by telling me to unhook from the post and connect another post 2 pitches away.

No problem. Unhooked and found that my power lead would not reach the other post. I have a 25m lead and with a bit of a struggle I have routed the lead under the awning, under someone elses caravan an now hangs like a skipping rope. Not a happy bunny as the socket on the other post is still empty.

Other caravanner told me previous occupant of pitch had same problem and had to purchase new longewr lead from site. Nice little earner for the club.

Determined not to purchase anything from the wardens, I have now got to find somewhere else to buy one to see out my last 2 days stay.

Perhaps the wardens would have been able to warn members on arrival that this pitch requires a longer lead, after all they know the site and know that most vanners have a standard length lead.

So in order to be helpful to future occupants of this pitch, please bring a longer lead or your stay will also be spoilt.

    Hi Juddybrads

He said I was denying the use on another pitch. Site is now full socket still unused as at 2045hrs 21.7.

Have been out all day. Fellow caravanner states warden was inspecting the lead while I was out.

No doubt he has read this.

Anyway couldn't get a new longer lead so bought a bottle of wine instead, 'ahh that's better now'.

I thought 25mtr cables were the longest allowed for leisure use

I am amazed that the warden is encouraging this as he is ignoring Elf & Safe Tea. Trailing cable in this fashion is NOT acceptable & constitutes a
trip hazard , you should stand your ground on the basis of this danger & reconnect to the closer EHU

I had the same trouble on the Black Knowle site in the new forest last week, Pitch 115 in the centre grass area, I had  to borrow a 10m lead off a friend to connect to my 25m lead to reach the EHU,spoke to warden and he said YEP thats right, not to happy
but at least i got electric.

Same problem at Black Knowle Site, everyone seems to plug into the nearest EHU, however, that may not be the EHU allocated to your pitch. Better identification of EHU to Pitch number would help, also access on & off of pitches not clearly marked out lots
of up sets with new arrivals driving over EHU Leads and plots.Sad

I would have to ld him to go forth and i certainly would not have purchased another hook up lead to accomodate this!Failing this,i would have demanded a refund of the further 2 nights stay and pack up and left, with a letter to the club on returning home.
Some wardens are little jobsworths who are out to ruin your stay on the site!!

As i understand it the maximum distance from ehu to the pitch is 20mtrs on any club site
