We have been members of the Caravan Club for quite a number of years, although I forget exactly how many, and have always caravanned in older caravans, preferring the simplicity which comes with them, not to mention the charm and individuality they have.

We now have seven caravans, these being Winchesters from 1933, 1934 and 1938, Freemans from 1949 and 1958, a homebuilt caravan from 1952 and a Burlingham from 1949.  All of them are in good, useable condition, and are used regularly throughout the year for holidays and weekends away, to answer that question we are asked more than any other - "Do you sleep in it?"  We are also members of the Historic Caravan Club so regularly display our caravans at vintage events and shows up and down the country.

I have attached some photos of our 1933 Winchester caravan, which originally belonging to a woollen mill-owning family from near Northallerton in Yorkshire.  Out of the caravans we have, it is one of the most comfortable to sleep in, and, although not fitted with the modern conveniences available in caravans today, has everything you need for an enjoyable weekend away, to include a 12 volt light and a gas light for reading by.  What more could you need?

    Very nice ! do you tow with a vintage vehicle aswell ?

    I used to love the Historic caravans when they came to the National years ago, shame you don't see so many these days (but then it seems as though you probably have most of them yourself !) Smile

    Those Winchester caravan's were amazing.  we will be in the Bromyard Gala and the Stour Port Steam Rally in the next couple of weeks with our Car Cruiser.
