In praise of one's own facilities
I read with interest in a recent caravan club magazine a member's letter questioning why caravan manufacturers provide showers when everyone he know uses the on site facilities. Let me say that when I first started caravanning over thirty years ago, my greatest hate was having to use showers shared by hundreds of other people. From those days of "camping two foot off the ground", I am now the proud owner of a twin axle caravan with fixed bed, (absolute bliss), fridge freezer which allows for a weekly shop, microwave and superb end of bathroom which is exclusively used by my wife and I. We are currently holidaying in France on a campsite with excellent facilities but nothing would persuade us or our friends who are here in a similarly equipped caravan to use other than our own private shower.

Totally agree! My wife and I can shower in comfort. The only downside is getting the water but hey ho private showers are so much nicer. thanks

We always used the shower in our own van, and will do so in the new (to us) one. OH always has the spare water carrier full at the side of the van and swaps it over each night before we retire. No chance then of running out of water in the iddle of washing
your hair etc.We also employ the wet your self, turn off the taps, scrub, then turn the taps on again and wash off the soap. We use the nylon type scrubbers, a small drip of shower gel is quite sufficient and away you go.Wash hair in the same way, wet it, turn off the
shower whilst you shampoo and then turn on the tap to rinse and rinse off the shower gel at the same time. One thing I cannot get on with are the microfibre towels, we have had them for quite a while, I cannot get used to the dab yourself dry rather than a vigerous rub with nice rough towel that has been line dried. This time we are taking 'proper' towels with
