This has been many years a go now, but a true story.  I can't remember the exact date, but I've guessed at it, I'm afraid.

One year we decided to go to a site called Creampots, near Broad Haven in Pembrokeshire.  I think it was the Spring Bank Holiday Half Term.  We had a good journey down, we were almost there - in fact just short of Haverfordwest, when the inevitable happened - the car overheated and we came to a standstill.  A quick phone call to May Day/ Green Flag and the tow truck arrived to load the car and caravan to take us to the Caravan Park, just the otherside of Haverfordwest.  We got there and set everything up.  The next day we arranged for the car to go in for repair - it was a hose, as far as I can remember but they checked the car out and kept it over night.

Being without car, the next disaster struck.  My wife was just coming out of the caravan, when she caught some uneven ground, went over on her ankle and broke a bone.  Now not having a vehicle to get her to hospital, I had little alternative but to call for an ambulance to take her to A&E where they checked it and supplied her with a cast.  We went to tell the site owner that an ambulance was on the way.  He was very helpful and insisted on picking us up from the hospital when we had finished, which very gratefully, he did.

The next day, was fairly uneventful.  We got the car back.  I went over to the toilet block and started talikng to a gentleman - as you do.  We were passing the time of day and he finished by saying, ".....and are you having a good time?"  "Yes!", said I, "...but we did end up arriving at the site on the back of a tow truck, having broken down the other side of Haverforwest, and.....".  Well before I had chance to tell the rest of the story, he butted in and said, "Oh! That's bad luck", he said, "....but not as bad as some."  He continued, "....there was one poor family who had to have an ambulance."  Can you imagine the look on his face when I said, "Yes, that was us as well."

That sounds abit like our recent holiday to wales. We had to call an ambulance to my hubby who had had an allergic reaction to something during the night and trying to tell the operater on the phone where we were in the middle of wales is no easy task!

    Hi everyone,

We picked up our first caravan 2 days ago - a 2005 Lunar Quasar eb, and we had a free overnighter nearby to check all ok and settle in - next day site owner appeared to ask any questions? brilliant service. never having pulled a "van" before quite nervous
but new Bererlingo pulled it fine.

Hoping for France next month - maybe Germany, Very exciting all round,

    thanks

Arrived back from Holland on friday. A wonderfull spell away but for my wife falling in the shower and suceeded to brake her toe. The significance she managed to keep up the tradition having visited hospitals with her and my son over the last 30 years of touring in EVERY country we have been. Including being flown back from Austrailia. 2 days before our return. She was playing with friends children in the outback camper which had 3 substantial steps to get down to ground level. Her foot sliped through the steps and she fell back wards the crunch was cringingly loud. Unable to fly if the leg was put in a cast she elected to strap it our insurer arranged her return  leg elevated in buisiness class.

My son was on fist name terms with the translator in Tarragona 4 years out of six he ended up in casualty football and water incidents.

Poland France Italy Belgium Turkey  I stand corrected not yet in Germany

Perhaps we shopuld just stay at home.

No way. Holidays are always great and the memories they bring. Time to plan the next trip

In spite of what happened last tome we were at Creampots, we're thinking we might revisit it next summer.  Our holiday will be too short to make it to France because of a family wedding.  Creampots has featured in our discussions!!  Dare we!!!

Creampots, not happy memories for us I'm afraid. We had elected to stay in the UK  one year instead of heading for France as we usually do. Their website looked good and the reviews promising. Unfortunately the good old Welsh weather let us down and it rained
every day for a fortnight. Our pitch was flooded to the extent that you took your shoes OFF to go into the awning from the caravan. The showers were awful with queues every day and I finally  found the chem disposal which was a toilet in a corner of the field.
The warden had afixation with the grass even cutting it in the rain which then got walked into the showers. I'm sure the weather put the mockers on this holiday but I couldn't find anything about Creampots to recommend it.

did you make it back? Was it without incident this time? And, would you recommend the site now?
