Post It from Camping Las Palmeras, Crevillente, Alicante, Spain. Tuesday 6th September, 2016.
This was a new site for us and despite having lived not too far away for a while and driven past Crevillente we had never visited the town famous for its Arabic carpet manufacturing. I think it may also have a big Moor’s and Christian’s celebrations each year.
The almost empty motorway from Zaragoza to Valencia meant we made good time and we were able to push on a little further than we would normally do, We covered the 325 miles to arrive at the hotel, with camp site behind, before 1700 hours. This was probably the furthest we had ever driven in one day in terms of miles and I must say I was a little tired and unlikely to do the same again. We had met an elderly chap who travels from Lancashire in a panel van conversion to Benicassim in Valencia in just 3 stops driving over 400 miles a day and not all motorway! I could never do that, nor would I want too either. We did the journey in car when we lived there in 2 stops but that was all on motorway with 2 driving for 12 hours a day and only because of the then pet passport rules which have now been greatly relaxed.
The campsite, and hotel, was a jewel of a find. Close to the motorway, very clean, beautiful swimming pool and good pitches with or without shade and a very good restaurant that did menu del día for lunch and dinner with a varying menu at each sitting. Our excellent 3 course meal with bottle of wine, water and coffee, mine being an Asiático, came to 27€ which even at the new lower exchange rate was very good value. I was initially surprised to learn our waitress was in fact Russian but then I remembered there were many Russians living in the area around Torrevieja which was also close by.

Thanks Brue and yes Chasncath we got the bus timetable. We can actually get to Alicante too but they were not sure about getting direct to Murcia when I asked at the hotel. Regards, Roy
