Caravan or motorhome

Caravan or motorhome? this is the biggest question. Since our big trip to croatia in 2013 we have been considering changing from a van to a motorhome. We decided that if we did a three month trip again it would be easier with a motorhome. So after a lot of searching we could not find a motorhome to suite our needs. So in october we swapped to a new elldis shamal. Early in 2014 we realised our mistake and started looking for a motorhome again. In june 2 014 we took delivery of a marquis majestic 175. the first fewmonths was okay but we could not go abroad because of family commitments. We also started to realise that we were getting fed up of using public transport. So along came the scooter and trailer. they only lasted a couple of months due to bad weather and the hasle of loading and unloading. Next we thought of a small car and a frame. I was just on the point of purchase when all the bad publicity came along of people being find abroad etc. So we cancelled that idea. Then in this year we decided to downsize to an autocruise rhythm which we collect next week. The moral of this story is think hard before you decide to change from outfit to another. my next blog could be we have gone back to a caravan,

What is it that you don't like about public transport? I always research access to it before we book a site. Our bus passess save us pounds over the course of a year. We changed to a motorhome three years ago and can't envisage going back to caravanning
which we did for 30 years.

We use a combination of public transport and sites that are within easy walking distance of towns and villages. It's been a good way of getting out and about rather than driving a car all day, there are good and not so good points with all vans and caravans.

On Saturday we took the bus from our campsite to Cartagena. It took 40 minutes and cost us 8.40€ for two return tickets. A car would have been quicker, but then we would have to have found and paid for parking. The bus station was central and an ideal setting
    off point.
