November 2015 saw us take a small break down in the Swindon area of the country as we wanted to be near relatives and to visit the spa town of Bath. After checking on the Caravan Club CL site we decided on a new CL that had recently opened called Thatado Farm, just outside Swindon near Leigh, as it had 5 hard standing pitches and we needed to make sure of this because of the weather being rather wet this time of year. Getting to the site was very easy, as it is a short drive from the M4 towards Royal Wotton Bassett but far enough away that you could not hear any road noise from the motor way.The road directly outside the site is a busy one though, but after evening tended to die down. There is also a railway line near enough to hear the trains speeding by but again did not impact on our stay. The site is new, with five hard standings, one of which has a grass area for an awning. There is gated security, with instructions texted to you for the combination to open up for the key. Kenny met us and talked us through the site and near by local attractions, including walks, places of interest and shops. The toilets are in a meta; hut, and are basic but have a heater and hot water. Chemical and grey waste are next to this at the entrance and for £12.50 a night was more than enough for our needs. Several water taps mean that you don't have to walk far for fresh water. Being November the grass was quite water logged after all the rain, but in the summer I can see this site being a huge favorite for those wishing to explore the area. There was more than sufficient space between pitch's and plenty of grass to spread out on for any ones needs. In time, as the screening grows this site will become one of the most popular ones in the area.
