Caravan Club Concert Band - National 2016 Rehearsal
It may seem along way away but already the Caravan Club Concert Band has started rehearsing for the Celebration Promenade Concert at next year’s National in honour of the Queen’s 90th birthday. During October, members of the Band travelled from all over the country to Braithwell near Doncaster for an intensive weekend of rehearsals starting on Friday night and finishing on Sunday lunch time.
Conductor, Chris Moore, said,
“We have selected nearly 40 possible pieces to represent the nine decades of Her Majesty’s reign. At this stage it is a bit like the preliminary stages of X Factor. There are so many much loved pieces of music and we can’t possibly include them all, but we had great fun trying them out. The Band is very excited about the concert and we really hope the audience will enter into the spirit by coming along either dressed to represent one of the decades or as one of the performers. It is too soon to make decisions about the exact programme but let’s just say we enjoyed meeting up with Elvis, John George, Paul and Ringo, Freddie Mercury, Bob Hope and Glen Miller to name a few.
Chris went on to add, “ The final choice will be sure to entertain with plenty of opportunities to promenade in costume, join in with iconic songs and even dance.
