Bonfire rally with North Lancs

We have just returned home from our first Caravan Club rally with the North Lancs centre. It was at Windy Harbour caravan park. We arrived on Friday and met up with some friends, had a quick bite to eat and then joined the other ralliers for opening flag with a cuppa and a few biscuits. Unfortunately the rains came so we headed back to the van for a glass or two of something a little stronger.

Saturday started with a group of ralliers building the bonfire and getting a little muddy in the process. Then back to the vans for a bit of R&R, well that’s what I did while the rest of the family headed off to the swimming pool.

After tea it was time for the musical parade, ok a little poetic licence used here, pots and pans and lots of noise might be more fitting.

The parade snaked through the camp site waking up anyone that was otherwise expecting a nice snooze, ending at the bonfire which was list shortly after. Then was the fireworks.

We didn’t sample the burgers but the children did manage to empty the tuck shop! Then it was back to the vans, children in one to watch films and the ‘grown-ups’ into another for some more refreshments!

There's been quite a "heated" discussion down in the forum about fireworks but it's nice to see an organised show being run by a rally group. Thanks for the story and pics, hope you all had a good time!

The fireworks were set off at a good distance and roped off from the ralliers, the bonfire was well marshalled and roped off and everyone was kept safe. Good clean fun, well apart from the mud of course! ;)
