    Steve and Peedee

Perhaps as a Mod I have the advantage that I can go back and edit my stories which allows me to add more pictures into the body of the story. Perhaps there is a case for a slightly longer editing window with stories than currently available but I have no
idea how practical that suggesting is and I think it would have to be discussed with Rochelle.

If people have the means to add pictures I would really encourage them to make the effort as it really does add life to a story.

    David

Being able to edit a story for an extended period, would probably make it more likely we would get round cranking up the windows machine to insert them. However, I am hoping that is all academic as the new software will allow easy insertion from an iPad
    or android device.

I made a post last night that seems to have disappeared.

One or two of us had a sneak peek at a beta version of the CC web site. On the club together page I uploaded a picture from my IPad in seconds. There also seemed to be the facility to upload video, but I didn’t get chance to try that.

Well the post was certainly on topic, perhaps it was viewed as raising false hope. Be interesting to see if there is any comment this time. I thought a note was supposed to be left when posts were removed.

The CC management will have carried out research to decide if new forum software will be cost effective.  As it has been well over two years since the new forum was announced, perhaps this research is still on-going.  It will cost many thousands of pounds and many hours of work to complete the task  and they may decide that the investment is not cost effective enough, just  to provide a new IT  platform for around 20 posters.

We'll just have to wait and see.

    Cheers........K

Maybe not removed by a moderator but part of IT team not up on CT etiquette

It was quite late in the evening so if it was someone in IT, they were burning the midnight oil.

i would have thought that designing, building and maintaining another bespoke system would be far more costly in the long run than going for an off-the-shelf tried and tested market leading generic package....

at least we will be confident that it works and has plenty of desirable modern functionality...

soon, oh soon, the light (with thanks to Jon Anderson)

    Hi everyone,

Really heartened to see some of the posts in this thread; just goes to show how much you all care… It’s really nice to see. Just in response to a few of the posts: we do keep an eye on the threads on Club Together, and we do take on board your concerns. Often the solution isn't always an overnight fix, so I can understand why you may feel as though we don't listen - but we do!

In response to the speculation on the new forum: again, we’ll be able to give you more of an update on that soon Wink

On a serious note, thanks again for all your feedback

Perhaps the forum will be morphed into a CC Facebook Group.------------ I'm not a fan of F/book--- but economically, that option would make excellent business sense.

It sounds as though some have had glimpses of the new format and I would imagine FB would be kept separate as it is on other multi-media sites.

Rochelle suggests that we will get an update soon....which is a throw away comment reapeated endlessly!

Especially when it is followed by...."On a serious note",  which leads me to believe that production of a new forum is simply not considered a serious matter by the club!

To be fair, Rochelle has entered into the spirit of playful teasing that some of us picked up on since there was an Ask the Expert session on certain aspects of the Club. I don't think she was being facetitious, far from it. It was a humorous response, but
also an attempt to keep the readers informed!Happy

In our personal view CT is not always a positive experience; however, the knowledge share is excellent for new members and established members when they widen their touring experience

I hope not Kennine. If the forum moved to Facebook then I would not be using it at all. (Never say never and all that) Why do companies everywhere seem to expect everyone to use Facebook. I know many do but surely it is a choice and if we changed to it then it would remove the choice for those like me who do not want to use it. I do not, never have and do not want to ever have to use Facebook so it woud be a big loss for me if the Forum went that way. I hope Rochelle notes my comments. Regards, Roy

I had the misfortune to have to sign up (in the most basic way possible) to Facebook......just so I could follow a particular charity that I work with.

I find it tedious and incredibly tedious to follow.

As I was now conscripted, I chanced a look at the CC page......same outcome, very un-user friendly.

I'm not an IT dinasaur......quite the opposite. But I found that format to be very poor and, like that other bit of rubbish software, Twitter, is clearly designed for those who wish to dash off a comment and don't really care about continuity, structure
    or real conversation.

It is certainly no replacement for a forum.......
