What are the advantages of one against other assuming engine size is the same, say 2 litre. And van weight round 1200-1300 kg

Auto has no clutch to burn out but some Auto's have a form of clutch which could need replacing, any other for or against. Which one should I go for and why

Very rare, if not unheard of for a wet clutch failure in a proper torque converter auto. There are threads of this debate already being discussed in the Towcar section that might be of interest.

personal choice .... you need a drive of each as they drive differently. My choice is the same as dave's above ie a torque converter type auto

Hi folks.  This topic should really be in the Towing and Towcar section, and there is also a thread there on Automatics v Manual.  I will close this thread and refer you to this one

    HERE
    to avoid duplication.
