Why do some post have the opportunity to be liked by having Like this post
printed below them and others not?

Ask yourself a question then answer it is that a sign of madness ? lol

you can't like your own posts, all others should have a like button (if you logged in)

True Corners. You need to be logged in to 'like' a post.

There isn't a way to undo a like, Bob, and you can bet your life it's the most disagreeable post ever that you manage to like in error.

Yes it's quite easy to "Like" a post by error. I once even accidently "liked" a post by Tinwheeler

It was one of yours I was thinking of when I wrote my earlier post, K.

Isn't it nice that, despite our often differences, we can still have a laugh about it?
Well, most of us......some just resort to sulking and 'reporting'.
Ah well, their loss.......
...no names (required) no pack drill...

There you go, Ian, I've liked your post. I'll let you work out whether if was deliberate or accidental.

Don't think that Malc has any problems with mistaken likes, he just likes the lot regardless.....

I don't press like on blank page syndrome posts as I can't see anything to like about that!

Just counted the total number of like / liked / likes within all of the posts and the posts liked, so far there are 30 on page one, 40 on page two, 70 likes in total, maybe more if this post is "Liked" too! What am I Like? lol
PS, 77 now as there are 7 more in this post!

Probably the best solution would be to remove the "Like" post from the scoring scenario, so that the the posting of "Like" becomes a genuine one, and not just one to add to ones score line!
Then the award of a Like would for the first time have some meaning!

JC, I believe it was originally intended to encourage folk to post on the forum when the forum started some 4yrs ago(I think) but has become a 'stress' to some & a 'tool' to others. I also think it has outlived its usefullness. It's obvious that the forum
is well used & there is no need to employ the points(star) system any longer. It was fun while it lasted but of late become a bone of contention. It is a 'waffleometer' I know because I can waffle at Olympic level & i've got the purple stars to prove it0 -
The fun and trivia seems to help along the post count too!

JC, In short members who "like" posts get a point added to their total for each post they mark as "liked".
That could of course result in a temptation to mark posts as liked, not in order to show genuine appreciation of the post concerned, but rather to increase the members personal star total.
Now I'm sure that our members are far too responsible to do that, but the temptation is there, and perhaps it would be in everyones interest if the system were changed to prevent that.
Such an action would result in a more accurate reflection on what posts were truly appreciated.

JC, you can find info by clicking on the Stars under your avatar - if you really think it's worth the effort.
