I appreciate that the Club might not want to promote non club sites but the realitiy is, I suspect, that most of us from time to time use commercial sites maybe because there is no Club site near where we want to be. Do people think we should have a space
somewhere in Club Together to add such reviews? It could equally apply to UK sites as well as Overseas sites that are not in the ABS system. Not wishing to overload the IT Department but if the Overseas Guides could be put online and interactive that would
be a good start for overseas sites?

I have always thought that we should work towards encouraging reviews of all sites in the UK and in Europe, in much the same way as UKCampsite co. uk do.  My argument is that, as a Club, this should be seen a facility we offer for the membership - a membership
    facility.

I think your right David, for example although there are plenty of CL's in Essex there are no Club sites so would be useful to see where people have been.

I recently recommended an independent site on here - then thought Oops I'd  better look up the reviews and see whether it has changed. I found it has 102 reviews already on UKCampsite. Is there any point this Club duplicating what's there already?

Have been using ukcampsite for years now to check out reviews of all types of sites, before either the CC or C&CC membership.

Don't see any point in duplicating an already good resource, and given the CC is no longer a club, but a commercial holiday and insurance company, would unbiased and unedited reviews be allowed?

The CC don't even respond to the members concerns as expressed on CT. If the editorial in the June CC Magazine and article on the debacle of COTY are anything to go by. 320,000 registered users on CT apparently, 1,500 posts on the COTY thread still up, unknown
number taken down. CC Facebook page taken down. Would an endorsement of a commercial site allowed by CC actually carry any weight in peoples minds?

The CC management haven't come out of the days of the Raj yet, let alone embrace the interweb and the power of social meedya. Tongue Out

I don't use facebook, but understand there are loads of resource on there for bad reviews if that is what people want. Tongue Out

I for one would trust the opinions of CT members a little more than Joe Bloggs out there.

It is clear to everyone that during peak periods the club site network struggles with demand, so it would be useful to have an "Other Recommended Sites" section.

I would guess that it's not really a question of objecting to have reviews of non-Club sites, but more a question of no-one really thinking it necessary or that it would take extra work to set this up on the website without a 'return' for the investment
in the time it would take to set up.  I would argue that as a Club, it would be an extra facility for our members.  If the ultimate aim is to make this website and the Caravan Club as the ultimate place to come for information and advice on all matters relating
to caravanning, then such an inclusion on the website, would be a step in the right direction in order to achieve this.

The one problem I have with ukcampsite is that very often there may only be 1 review within recent months. The next one can be a year or more earlier. Whereas on the CC site, for all its faults, there are nearly always plenty of recent reviews both of club
    sites and CLs.

So I can see no real objection to extending this to reviews of other sites; after all we've had plenty of recommendations for Haven/Morris/Sandy Balls/Ross Park already. Happy

I have used UK Campsites website for years now. It seems pointless to replicate their reviews on this CC website. After all if a cc customer wanted to post a review on any particular site, they would have done it already on the UK campsite website.
