Is this site user friendly?

I would like to start a discussion on the subject of "Is this site user friendly? the reason for this is that I have a problem negotiating around the site in general.

take for instance the headings on the opening page, from the descriptions used how would you find your way to this page, there is no mention of a forum, which this is, “club together” seems to me to be a very poor way of describing what where it will take you. The when you get onto the forum site there is a sub heading on the right hand side of which 2 are defiantly misplaced, IE “Where to start” and “Membership”.

Surly “where to start should be on the home page and Membership is already on the Home page so why show it again in a forum page?

It is not my intention to do any bashing here but to find constructive criticism to improve the site in general, thats if the management is open to this.

So now I will try to find my way to the CL information pages which seems to be the Cinderella of the site, but to me its the only reason to be a member.

I think you will be moved to the correct section, D&S. How to use CT.

We all know it's not perfect here but we're told a new forum (or Discussions) will be along soon. Life's too short to worry about it in my view.

Edit: Cross posted with you, One.

If you think this one is difficult to negotiate and use, have a look at the C&CC web site......!

It's sad to say that as a general truth that forums, all forums suffer from over zealous managers, so don’t expect this one to be any different. I think its a case of “One man’s meat is another man’s poison”

I had an instance a week ago where I picked out a CL from the club Book/Map only to fail in finding it on the web site. To sort this out I had to email the club for information, which dully arrives a few days later.

Now this seems silly to me, if the club could take the time to remove the site from the web surly they could have left a note on the CL web site that it was closed and then removed it when the next club book was out?

AS for other site being worse, is this a reason not to improve this one?

O ye of little faith. Look how long the upgrade from Stonehenge to the digital watch took. At least Stonehenge didn't need a lithium battery.

But Stonehenge did actually work then and still does now!

That's obviously your experience DnS but not mine.  The headings on here are actually pretty self explanatory so a moderator will, if incorrectly placed,  always move to a more appropriate section/thread.

We are all assured that there will be an updated website.  I have no reason to doubt this, in fact, I'd put money on it!  Laughing   It
just appears to be taking a little longer than anticipated.

The title of this thread is

    Is this site user friendly?

In My opinion the answer is YES.

It is a simple amateurist type of forum with none of the features found on real forums, but it was not designed to have those bells and whistles. , you will find, if you use a bit of ingenuity, that the forum serves the purpose for which it was designed.

I think what is more important than " is the forum user friendly" is that " the users are friendly" ......I say yes to bothHappy

A lot of answers seem to be missing the point, When I ask Is this a user friendly site I don’t just mean the forum part of it but the whole site, trying to find things on this club site is very difficult and time consuming, OK I'm sure that there are some
that can fly around it with great ease but for the casual user or the new user it is a problem.

As a 'whole site question', I have to agree it's not as user friendly as many sites, but I can think of worse sites.  Perhaps I'm a bit kinder than Doug and San mainly because I have got used to it.

I don't find it unfriendly to use, DnS, so there's not much I can say other than to make your views known to the Community Manager.

I actually agree with Doug n San. The CC Website as a whole is confusing and badly designed but I don't expect it to change any time soon as East Grimstead move at a Snail's pace and seem in general to be very complacent in taking its members for granted
so won't be too worried about a few moans on here.

No, but then I'm spoiled by excellent fora and websites elsewhere. I find it most annoying to be constantly timed out, as well as not to be able to find the last-read post in a long thread immediately. It largely reflects the CC in that it doesn't give much
thought to the opinions of the customer/user, is old-fashioned, and the management can't bear any criticism.
