Are there too many sections on here?
The poor moderators seem to spend much of their time moving threads from one section to another in an attempt to keep the forum tidy.
Could reducing the number of different sections make their lives a bit easier, and also, by reducing the available choices, enable posters to post in the correct remaining sections in the first place. ??.

Ps. We probably already know what the small TFIP brigade think, but it would be interesting to hear from the normal members.

Yes I never scroll down to the bottom miles too many and GET RID OF THE STICKIES they take up too much space in each section.
We should have one section for dogs poo, another for Sunday Departures and another to moan at the cr4p IT systems, thats all we really need.

I have never use sections - I just run through the new stuff. What I want is the list to be more than 5 entries long, and just one entry for any thread that has something new in it. You know, just like the forums in the real world.

Agreed. The sections are about right, but a quick index at the start indicating new threads and the subject matter might help.
I fully accept and apologise for past indiscretions but I think that the above would help.
The Forum is great anyway, but is not beyond improvement.

No the number of sections is fine, it is just the lousy software which makes finding posts both old and new difficult/tedious.
Google is pretty good a sniffing out old posts but its a hack to spot the new ones especially those added to old threads.

EJB986 yes of course I have, and yes, many others have some better bits than this one. BUT all things considered I still prefer this one. For the most part it is good natured, but even when swords are crossed I don't think it becomes overly personal.
As I said, for me at least,- the CC Forum is pretty good. It needs some much spoken about improvements, but in the fullness of time..............

Write your comments here...Looking at that forum it has the same names as people on here and looks more confusing than this one. So same names same ideas or lack of so whats going to be different?

This forum has rather less sections than most. I think we could do with a Home Technology section added to General Chat but that is just my view. Hopefully when we get the new forum we will have the ability to view new posts which is by far the easiest way
to view a forum on a daily basis. Unfortunately the current Latest Activity is not really up to the job as it shows all manner of things, when someone likes a post which we don't really need to see.David

TF I certainly agree that the membership is really good, even though many are fanatical Francophiles which, I believe is incurable, but there are so many faults/problems on the site.
No....New post or todays posts button ...Can't post images...No PM facility...Links not posted live...plus!!!!.
However we have 'Champions' .........I wonder why no other forums have 'Champions'?

It isn't affiliated/associated to any Club, has rigorously applied terms and conditions, and sections that can be opted in or out of depending upon what the user prefers. Not all the sections are available to none members. A smallish forum, although growing
weekly. Very friendly, very supportative, both in terms of help and advice, sharing interesting ideas and just generally helping each other out! Software that is second to none, making posting photos, videos etc.... Very easy, even for the none PC proficient.
The fact that it is easy to do most things on it makes it attractive to more users.

Write your comments here...But its the same people as on here so whats the difference are you saying they are unhelpful and not friendly here but are on caravan chat? They no doubt promote teh same views and ideas there as they do here, and from looking at it it may have more functionality but it did not look friendly to me.

Isn't this supposed to be a discussion about the CT forum rather than a criticism of others?
Not sure how the list of latest posts can look unfriendly unless you have an issue with the users of another forum. In which case feel free not to join

Write your comments here...so MichaelT what exactly is your point? Are you saying we should be limited to one forum or that we should change our user names. It's my choice to be a member of both CT and caravan chat.com so nothing else to say except we seemed to have strayed off topic

MT, what a rather pointless post. Just because a few of the avatar names of members are shared between the two forums, doesn't mean that both sites don't have lots of other members, some who post quite frequently, others who don't post very much. The two
forums are rather different, bound to be given that one is very much part of a much larger Club, while the other is independent. Both serve a purpose in the larger world of touring forums. Nothing much wrong with either, or at least there won't be once CT
gets its upgrade.I am sure most discerning CT users will make up their own minds if an alternative forum is of interest to them or not. Negativity is one of the elements that caravanchat forum lacks, make of that what you want!

I think sections on forums need to develop as use dictates. For instance, on Caravanchat we find that, as membership steadily increases, so does the desire to discuss different topics. Therefore, sections are added to meet the needs of members and can just
as simply be removed if they cease to be used. Isn't that what has happened on CT as well? Sections are added/Deleted User over time and most of us have seen it in action.0
