Hollinwell Farm or Other Non EHU in Newark/Derby

Has anyone stayed at Hollinwell Farm CL.  There are no reviews and we wondered what is was like.  Particularly if it is flat as I know the area can be hilly and we are not experts at levelling if there is a steep area.

Alternatively, if anyone else knows of any NON EHU CLs in the area, just off the A1 or M1 we would love to hear about them.  We are driving from South Coast to Durham so think this will be about half way.

All we need is tidy, fairly flat CL and off lead dog walking.

    Hi Tracey

Not stayed on Hollinwell but it is just up the road from Vicki's parents. It is actually in Kirkby in Ashfield quite close to the M1.

Looking at the site from the road it is definately basic and flat. No sheep but there are sometimes cows in the adjoining fields. The A611 can get busy at peak times but not so bad at night.

Not sure about an off lead dog walk on site but there are woods close by popular with dog walkers. Also Portland Park about half a mile away.

The cl below is not far from me. It is only small but flat, about 3 vans I think, so phone ahead. £4 per night

If you use the M1 to Leicester then take the A46 (all dual carriageway) at junc 21a to Newark where you pick up the A1. After 19 miles turn right onto A606 to Melton Mowbray, take first left to Hickling. Left at T Junc and farm on the right just before the pub. It's all very easy and the A46 to Newark is a lot quieter then staying on the M1 to Leeds. There's a pub across the road and you are on the Grantham Canal (disused) for dog walks.

This may be too late for you, but - we stayed here for a couple of nights recently. The first night was OK but on the second we were kept awake with the cows in the next field bellowing all night long. (Calf separation time ?? ). We had a drive up to North
Yorkshire coming up so moved to a nearby CL to ensure a good nights sleep.
