The regs state in our area all outside taps must be fitted with such a device. I changed ours in order to comply. In our case it is internal to the actual tap. So I would have thought, given the taps are outside, they would have to be fitted with these by the campsite owner. If they are integral, as is mine, you would not be aware of this.

Never come across anyone on a CL leaving a hose permanently connected to a communal tap, but sometimes visitors with onboard tanks fill up, which can take a bit longer than an aqua roll, but even this is done at quiet times so as not to disturb others. Never

Is it acceptable/permitted to connected a splitter to the tap and leave your water pipe connected to one side of the connector, leaving the other side available for others to use?
Never come across anyone doing this. OK I suppose if only you and one other on the site, but if only one shared tap and more than 2 vans, I think you could be thought of as taking advantage unfairly.
(As in....you have done it but nobody else can)
Is it so difficult just to connect up the hose when you actually want to use it? Or do as most do and take the water container to the tap?
If you want, or need, a serviced pitch, there are CLs that provide this.
I was interested from the perspective that it may have been a viable alternative to "hoggers". Just a thought.

I've never come across this on a CL. It is not something I would tolerate on a communal water tap. If I required to fill up my roller ball I would disconnect the offending connection and use the tap as it was intended.
No problem - no hassle.

I agree. I think it is pretty arrogant and selfish to do leave yourself connected to a tap which others have to use. I'm sorry but I would disconnect and leave the fittings. I would not reconnect after filling my aqua roll.... Having said that I have never ever come across this as almost all people I have come accross on cls are considerate to others.

No problem at Higher Bochym each pitch has two taps, fresh water and waste, both with non-return valves!

The NRV in the tap protects the supply but does not seperate the "hog" from those using the other side of the split. If you think it does not matter then Mr Wikipedia can tell you about cryptosporidium and his pals.
