Breakdown cover for my caravan

It seems I can get recovery of my caravan if it is on tow and the problem is with my car. However RAC AA and Green flag don't seem to offer cover if my car is fine, but the problem is with the caravan. I am new to caravanning (literally only a few weeks)
and  my caravan is out of warranty, so I feel a bit vulnerable, say if someone rear ends the caravan.

I'd be grateful for any advice on managing the risk.

Thanks in advance

I use Mayday via the caravan club partnership with Green Flag. C&CC also have a similar arrangement with RAC I believe

In the event of an accident causing recovery they would countercharge your car insurer I believe

Thank you. I rang Mayday, they said the caravan would be recovered if there was a problem with the car, but not if the problem was solely with the caravan.

After an axle broke on the caravan less than 10 min on the way home from Cromer way back in 1976 we spent two nights in a very sympathetic farmers field when the RAC refused to assist since the problem was the caravan. Not even any advice!  Mayday ever since
and always great service even on a busy bank holiday Monday on M65.

Mayday's cheapest cover will not do 'Dual Recovery' as it is assistance only, but I have the Premium cover and it does.

    Quote from their policy booklet.

    Caravan and Trailer Cover
    What’s covered:
Your caravan or trailer will have the same
cover as the Insured Vehicle when being
    towed by the Insured Vehicle

Therefore if the caravan breaks down then it has the same cover as when the towing car breaks down.

Thank you guys, sounds like I need another conversation with Mayday. When I spoke to them they were clear that the caravan would not be covered as a separate entity. But Dave's policy quote suggests their staff are not as clear as they should be.

    Much appreciate all the help.

If you're a member of C&CC you can get the same sort of cover through RAC Arrival.

Mayday does cover faults with the caravan, it is in the policy wording. Not sure if some queries are answered by Green Flagstaff rather than specific Mayday ones as there does seem to be the odd wrong answer to queries as here.

Yes, we have had Mayday attend to a puncture on the van (while being towed) and to a seriously broken mover when not being towed, but sitting half way out of our driveway.

On the first occasion they changed the wheel, on the second occasion they assisted me to get the van safely onto the road (it's a 1900kg twin axle) and hitched up to the car.
