Sad  to  hear  that  Desmond  Carrington  is  laying  down  his  'Pick -- Up'  at  the  end  of  October.

He  has  been  an  integral  part  of  my  "Entertainment  Life"  ever  since  Emergency  Ward  10  on  steam   T.V.,  and  continued  right  up  to  date  on  the  radio ( or should  that  be  wireless ?? )  .  One  thing  I  do  know  is  I  will  miss  his  "and  the  music  goes  round"  on  BBC  Radio.  To  think  he's  retiring  and  he's  only  90  !!

I guess they all have to retire some time.  I've listened to him for many years.

I've a feeling that Brian Matthew might be next as I think he's 88 yrs.

I've always enjoyed his programmes.  I think Alan Keith (your hundred best tunes) was 92ish when he retired

Must  admit  there  are some  I  would  have  preferred  to  have  retired  at  29
    !Wink

None  of  the  above  of course  --  it's  probably  the  reason  I'm  hanging  on  to  my  C.D.'s  !
