All of us who love the game of football must be thinking of the folks of Chapecoense tonight. Amidst all the other headlines at the moment this is a true tragedy and should put things in proper perspective.

Very very sad news, for football and for the families and friends of those who were lost.  Echoes of Munich 1958, and also of crashes involving the Zambian national team, and the team from Turin.

Terrible new. Feel for the families all those involved. It is not the first time for a S.American team to be involved in a plane crash. 1961 a Chilian team, along with 3 referees all died in a plane crash in the Andes, and then in 1972 a Uraguayan rugby
team were part of 45 who were in another plane that crashed in the Andes, and only 16 of them survived.

All the more poignant as this was a newly promoted team travelling  to play in a competition final. A sad, sad day.
