Euro 2016

Australia do not qualify as a European country, they are not playing in Euro 2016, and never will. Australia take part in the European Song Contest as a guest country and probably because they pay European Broadcasting Union handsomely to do so. Can anybody
tell me how Israel are part of UEFA.

Israeli Football has a somewhat complicated history. They have played in three different regions for World Cup qualification, but put very simply, no one wanted to play them in the first two regions, so they are now in the more European zone. They are not
an issue, they rarely qualify for the final stages. The one claim to glory was beating France a good while ago! Some good individual players though, Yossi Benayoun?

Anyway, I am off to St Davids next week, I will be in Wales when the Wales v England game is on. Do you think I would be best advised to watch n the van, or find a pub?

Well  if  footy  is  your  forte,  then  find  a  pub  And  join  in  the  festivities  --  just  don't  be  a  typical  English  misery  guts  --  it  takes  two  sides  to  make  a  match,  and  both  should  be  appreciated     !!

P.S.  I'm  Very  English  but  can  enjoy  a  good  bit  of  banter  with the  best  of  'em    so  there  !!

I hope the the Home nations do well. Northern Ireland is 500/1 at the moment but I wish them all the best They, like the other home nations, are "One of us".  . Wales could really surprise us and England will definitely do well.

As for "Foreign" countries I will be following Sweden Germany and Spain. Hope they do really well.

I agree to an extent, although, to put it in perspective, it's just the idiots who have enough money to throw away on following the bloated businesses calling themselves Premier League clubs or to spend vast sums on following those so called "top professionals".

Down in the lower leagues, there is rarely any trouble and fans mix happily on match day. The police at the Mem, where Rovers play, are cheerful and sociable with the fans, and have few reasons to ever intervene.

Wales game just starting now.  of all the National Anthems Wales comes out tops, then The French one a close second. .   England of course doesn't have one of their own, so I cannot rate them.

This game started well, Wales depending on their good defence.

Wales has just scored - great goal !!!!!!!

 

 

Wherever the English National Anthem originated, I do believe the Marshal Wade verse should be heard more often.

Good win for Wales.Hopefully England will do the same and get two teams out of the group.However the English fans could see the nation humiliated.

That must be the worst game of soccer I have ever seen England never even tried to win . On form they should have wiped the floor with Russia. They should hang their heads in shame.

That seems like "par for the course" with England, when it comes down to the nitty gritty England can't cut it.... Been the same for years, unfortunately, they think they are gods and dont worry if they lose as their wallets' talk instead of pride...

Wales were superb esterday and thoroughly deserved their win. With three points in the bag already they've got a pretty good chance of goig through to the next round. Well done them.

England played really well for most of the match - though not as brilliantly as the so called experts in the studio were drooling about! They probably deserved to win but if you don't take your chances you can't complain afterwards. One thing that puzzles
me is why our most physical striker, Harry Kane, is taking the corner kicks and some free kicks. Shouldn't he be in the box putting himslf about at corners? Surely at this level any of the others should be able to deliver a pretty accurate set piece?
