Anyone watch the 'new style' qualifying? What a fiasco.

Its been scraped and they are going back to the pre 2016 qualifying for the next race.

First time of watching on Channel 4, like the presentation team but hated the adverts.

Mercedes don't appear to have such a commanding lead this year, so it looks like it could be an interesting season.

I think it was obvious to everyone that the qualifying format was rubbish.  Thankfully common sense has prevailed and they are going back to the old system.  I thought Channel 4 done a really good job of the qualifying highlights, much better then the BBC
(except for adverts).  At least they say the live races will not be interupted by any adverts.  I remember years ago when ITV were doing the coverage, they put an advert break in on the last couple of laps and missed the finish.

Didn't ITV also go for a commercial break when 3 or four cars were trying to overtake each other and it ended with a massive crash?

From 2019 you will only be able to view live F1 on Sky Sports. The exception will be the British GP and a highlights programme.  No more F1 for me then.

Same here Oneputt I suspect. The fans have been let down by the greed of the people that run F1. If the TV audiences fall as a result so will attendance at the races.

I cancelled my Sky yesterday as the prices are due to go up yet again.  I prefer watching the highlights these days as F1 has become rather boring anyway.

A cynic might think that Bernie has slipped Merc a few million quid  to keep some interest alive with LH playing catch-up.

Looks like this weekend has cost Bernie another couple of million then. Poor old Lewis does seem to be having a run of bad luck atm.

When it was announced that F1 was going to Sky it was also said that there would be a new free to view channel for those who don't want to pay for Sky sports. I presume that you will only get highlight coverage though, as I only like motor sports and have
never been a fan of the usual football , cricket, golf etc I refuse to pay Sky's prices to go into overpaid prima donnas pockets and I include F1 drivers in that so it looks like Eurosport and Men and Motors from 2019 for me.
