What is a good film?

Just off to get the new Star Trek film to watch this evening. When we first watched the revamp of the original series I wasn't sure I was going to like it, but, as long as you approach it without comparing it to the Shatner/Nimoy era, it's turning out to
be a good series of films0 -
The film by which I judge whether or not another is a good film is The Cruel Sea. Being a sad person, I have watched it so many times, I almost know the script off by heart
Snorkers, good-oh! Excellent film.
All three new Star Trek films are on offer at the moment on iTunes.
TG, is that the North and South with Richard Armitage or the American series? Love the first one, not seen the other.

I have to confess to being a huge GoT fan, despite all the violence and sex. You never know who is going to pop up next, nor who is going to get bumped off!

Can recommend A Streetcar Named Bob. Wasn't sure what to expect due to the subject matter but an excellent film.

Classic British costume drama, based on Elizabeth Gaskell's novel. Very good. You start off hating the male character, but end up changing your mind....possibly!

Today we watched “It’s A Wonderful Life” on Film 4, it’s only in black and white and has no fancy special effects but the acting by James Stuart is fantastic, maybe that’s what makes a good film.

It's about a homeless man, who is addicted to drugs and how he turns his life around after being befriended by a ginger cat. It's a true story and Bob is played by himself - a very clever cat!

Gregory Peck! Now there's a good actor. To kill a Mockingbird, The Big Country, Captain Hornblower, Moby Dick....all classics!

There were quite a few good actors during his era TDA, Kirk Douglas was another talented actor in my opinion.

Read the book last year, wonder how the film stands up to it.

Last film we watched in the caravan was Doctor Zhivago, took care of a rainy day beautifully. One of the few very good books that transfered almost intact to a great film.
watched that just before the start of my first college term - aged 18. I enjoyed it that much that I sat in the cinema and watched it a second time

Can highly recommend 'Sully' starring Tom Hanks. A great film with good action all the way through.
