New series, new actors, new storyline.

This time the "missing" person is found eleven years later, does this create tension in the family?

We will have to watch and find out.

Wednesday BBC1 9pm.....Cool

Be interesting to see the link between the two stories which I assume is the detective.

Is anyone else keeping up with the story, and the flashbacks. I'm struggling, I must admit, trying to work out what is 'Now', what is '2014' and what is 'some other time'.

    I hope it gets better.

At the moment I feel as though I will be confused for the next seven episodes!!! However  that is, of course, part of the plot. I am sure that as every episode goes on things will be come a bit clearer. Sadly if what we learnt tonight it seems as if it could be the last series for the main character?

I like series like this. The first series we did not find out what happened until the very last episode. One slightly annoying  thing is that sometimes they say what year its in but I assume if its present day they don't which does make it seem disjointed unless of course that is deliberate?

It wouldn't be too bad if it was a continuous program but with a 7 day gap between episodes with time to forget the story line it gets even more confusing. It wouldn't be so bad if the falsh backs were only to a couple of eras and not so many characters
involved. I'm just about keeping up with it.

It would be so much better if, during every 'flash back', the year was displayed at the bottom............ !   That would mean that you'd know which is current, and which is a flashback.  With so many characters it's impossible to know just who is who, and when is when, especially when a new character is introduced.

I'm enjoying it though, and will stick with it.

But it is ValDa, I've seen the year displayed at the bottom when there is a flashback and "present day" displayed when back to normal...... Hope this helps.....Cool

Not all the time, though, or if it is it's so quick that I blink and miss it!  Or perhaps it doesn't help that I am knitting a very complicated lacy baby shawl at the moment and have to keep looking down!

Is it becoming a little clearer? Every episode seems to give us a bit more information but not a lot. At least I was right in my prediction, expressed to Margaret, of how the man got his burns

Yes, I also sussed out how he got his burns the first time it showed her grave. I dont think that the retired General? has got alzheimers, I think he is wrapped up in it, also the soldiers fathers death. Can't make out why the animal masked raiders have appeared.....UndecidedCool

PS...I missed the first fifteen minutes of the last episode, did anything significant happen....Innocent

The masked raiders are part of the problem of the programme keep changing times. If I recall correctly when she was attacked she still had blond hair but later they showed her with a wig in a different colour and a problem with her teeth which suggests that
was something to do with the attack?

I'm still with it and it was getting clearer by the minute Cool until the closing part of the episode, where she turned around Undecided Was the person in the shed fire an unknown (as yet) sibling with the same DNA?

Baptiste and the mother were not convince she was the daughter but then we had comfirmation that the DNA was the same as the father. Interestingly they didn't compare with the mother so whether that is another avenue the story will take we have yet to see.I have to say this series has really got me hooked, even if I don't always understand what is going on!!!

I tend to agree with Baptiste, I don't think that she was the daughter, however, I do think that the real daughter was the body in the burnt out shed,(my twisted mind) who was about to blow the cover of the imposter, so she suffered the terrible fate. There
are still a lot of loose threads but they are slowly coming together. To throw a different light on this, is it possible that it was not a man who kidnapped the girls in the first place, but a man was calling the shots?

I must admit that this series is gripping and very well thought out, it also has me hooked, I'm in for the long haul...Cool

The body in the shed could have been retrieved from somewhere else and is infact the daughter who in earlier episodes was described as being near death.( perhaps from the cemetry) and put in the shed. I think BT is correct, the butchers wife was involved in the kidnapping and was possibly going to spill the beans and that was why she was beaten up?.

I suppose we are gradually moving towards the truth and last night there were a few more twists and turns. Shame about the German policeman as he seemed increasing in the same mould as Baptiste.

I.m still trying to work out who was in the burning shed, to me, it has to be the proper Alice but why didn't they check the DNA against the mother? The Brigadier is, I think, involved deeply, so is the butchers wife. Who do you think is the third girl and
    where is she?

There are so many questions at the moment unanswered, we seem to get some amswers, but then more questions crop up. Is this the intention? Get people to fill their minds with questions and then they miss the clues? It has been said that all the answers are
in the program. I'll stop now before I drive anybody crazy, including myself......SmileCool

I thought the German policeman might be being developed as a character to 'take over' from Baptiste, perhaps in another series of The Missing.  However, last night's ending put an stop to that. unfortunately.  I think that one of the girls is 'Mummy in the basement' and that somehow the campervan and the new character last night (the man who did the drilling) are clues. Perhaps the 'Alice' who came back and is obviously still alive, and living near the campervan in Switzerland, was a favourite and allowed some freedom.  Perhaps during a period of beng allowed out she killed Henri Read and then had to 'disappear' so reappeared as Alice Webster, so they couldn't get at her.  I don't think the butcher, or his wife, are involved in any way and she was beaten up just because she was the wife of an alleged paedophile.  That's why 'Alice' sent 'her brother' into prison to apologise to the butcher - because she'd framed him and perhaps because she knew her brother was involved in the beating up.

My OH has a different view - so it will be interested to see just what develops in the story.

This series has been gripping, so many different possibilities, keep thinking I've got it sussed, then something happens to change my mind. Didn't think it had anything to do with the army press officer, but after this week's episode, it could be him? Undecided

" ...the new character last night (the man who did the drilling) ..."

I thought he was the army press guy and maybe the third man that Stone was referring to when Baptiste was interviewing him - "what we did to those poor girls, the three of us ..."

    Did I get that wrong?

Come to think about it you could be right. I suspect him not being in uniform might have thrown me. It would also explain why he is there in the first place as he seems to do very little as press officer ( perhaps why I ignored him) and a bit surplus to requirements which would suggest he has a bigger part to play..
