Enjoyed last nights show. Some really good performances from the contestants.

Louise was excellent. Best on the night.

Difficult to decide who should go this week.  I thought Robert Rinder danced well, but he does not like being criticised by the judges and came over as a spoiled kid.  Because of that I think he should go. .

    Cheers ......K

Claudia W showing her legs tonight......and what nice legs!

Ed through again......Ora in the dance off. What a travesty!

Get rid of the public vote......they appear to be clueless.

Well, given the current voting trends, Ed must be licking his lips at the prospect of a snap General Election! Laughing

Laura was completely overshadowed by Giovanni tonight he might as well have stuck her in the middle and danced all around her. Yet the judges (apart from Craig) still love her - come on ! Also, I did like Kevin & Louise's A.Tango BUT it
did NOT deserve a higher mark than Danny's dance IMHO. Again, the judges love her but do not rate Danny on the same scale for some reason, very frustrating. I do wonder if they do it deliberately to stir the public into defending him?

Ed & Laura should be in the dance off this week IMO, but who knows how the public will vote. Absolutely loved the finale btw, C & AJ were magnificent - very unusual music for a paso but I loved it Laughing

    Alison

Mmmmmm......see exactly what you mean. In the dance-off it was just the same.......she hardly moved!

At least the judges made the right decision.

But did you notice the dance off was mostly on one camera tonight so we just saw most of it from one angle - the front, rather than from all angles like the first time. I actually thought Ore looked like he had already been told the result so didn't really
bother - he certainly didn't add any hip rotations, if anything he left them out ! While Laura did actually seem to do a bit better and the camera angle played down Giovannis exhibition of the last time. Over all Ore & jo are the better couple but it was a
bit unfair that they all voted them in on that showing when Laura tried her best this time. Oh well, roll on next week

Agree FD, I also thought that Laura was the better of the two dancers. Ed doesn't seem at all bothered or embarassed about the fact he's still there, I think that he thinks he's good. Big mistakeYell.....Cool

One point not mentioned on the thread so far I believe,  is the professionalism and quality of the Strictly Orchestra and Singers. They are consistantly excellent.

K you are right, the orchestra & singers are first rate, I would rather see them perfoming in the middle of the show than some of the second rate so called entertainers that aired their warblings.

I think Ed's appeal to the public is not because he is a politician, rather in spite of that. He is the only 'ordinary' guy in it, he is neither an entertainer or an athlete, no previous training of any sort and he came in overweight and an unknown quantity
really, but he has worked hard & steadily improved. Obviously quite a lot of people like that and want to encourage him.

On the contrary 63ellesbells, just my opinion based on the fact that the majority of dancers are very good and the worst will not be eliminated for a week or two yet, its not rocket scienceSurprised

As for using spoilers, never have and never will, I seem to remember you throwing these accusations about during the last series, you seem to be the expert on the spoilers....UndecidedCool

the standard is very good this year so it comes down to the general public and their popularity vote to pick two for a dance off then the skill of those two will be decided by the judges, it really is anyones to win at the moment as the public vote on who
they like, what they are wearing, how they come over on the daily programmes/in the press etc etc... fickle lot  (I don't vote myself Innocent )

Could anyone explain, please........does the voting of the expert judges count for anything in who goes into the dance-off?

Is it simply the two dancers who get the fewest public votes, or are the judges' votes factored into it?

If not, what is the point of the judges' scores?

The judges scores sort out the ranking, then they get points for that, ie if there are seven of them, the first place gets 7 pts, 2nd gets 6 etc etc. then the public vote is collated in the same way and added to the judges ranking points. It is all very
simple unless there is a tie, basically in that case the couple with the higher public vote get preference.

    Thank you, Alison.

Ed Balls must do massively well then, to move from bottom of the judges' scores, up to outside the bottom two with the combined scores......?

at the end of the day it is just a popularity contest Ian, as I said before I think he is getting votes not necessarily just for who he is but for the fact that he is an 'ordinary' guy with no previous experience who happens to be doing quite well. However
    - if he gets in a dance off I think the judges wont save him over the others now, so it is down to the public to keep him there. Personally I don't think he will go much further now (but then I thought the same about Donald Trump !!)

Agree with you there Ian, very nice indeed!

Ed Balls, he's clearly a much more likeable fella as a wannabe dancer than he was as a politician. Just think if he'd had this much support last May

Slowly being whittled down with some very good dancers left, all of them getting better as well. Enjoyable entertainment, only marred by the publics ineptitude at times

Well I don't like Ora just can't take to him find him cunning, yes he knows and is a very good dancer but keeps putting that " who me ! am I really that good attitude " and as for the crying don't get me started on that Yell would
I like to see him go ? Yes, but I don't let my personal opinion of him distract from the fact that he's a dam good Dancer

Write your comments here...Yes, he is a very good dancer, but the tears just to get sympathy, is so false and unnecessary.

You dont need to resort to that sort of thing Ora, you are a good dancer.

Well, did Gangnam style do it for you?

Sorry Ed, no no no ! I've come to the conclusion he has no hip movement at all, in fact very little upper body movement altogether, just a pair of legs moving for all they are worth and arms waving trying to give the impression he is dancing ! Danny is finally top of the leader board where he belongs though so I'm happy, what a dance that was ! Fab-u-lous !

    Write your comments here...Hi Alison

A bit under the weather this week, so watched more than my fair share of tele. Watched England beat Scotland at football England beat South Africa at rugby. England doing well in the cricket, Hamilton on pole fore todays GP, all good stuff, but nothing gave more entertainment this week than Ed and Katya last night.

Dancing perhaps not as good as the others, but by far the best fun to watch.

Oh yes, Ed is pure entertainment and it would be good to see him to an Argentine Tango at some point. I'm fed up with the lines of "it means everything to me" or "he/she is so lovely and we will be friends for life", godammit tell the truth and speak for yourself instead of scripted lines.

It's pure entertainment and Ed is top of the scoreboard in that category. He's nearly 50 and obviously can't compete with the younger set but boy, he has balls.

Why is it a "split decision" when the voting is 2:1?

Surely if Len then votes one way, this could make it a split decision?
