Interesting how many previously comic actors have taken on serious roles recently. I quite enjoyed it but there is little intrigue in it that would make it more edge of seat. It would be nice to see a French version made, maybe they have already, it might
    improve the atmosphere?

Rupert Davis and Michael Gambon versions were pretty good but they managed to crack the crime in an hour, so is this one too long?

I thought that an hour and a half would have crisped it up a bit. Insufficient content for two hours. He does lugubrious rather well.

It was OK, but I liked Rupert Davies in the part of Maigret in the original series.  He made the part his own.    It will be difficult to accept Mr Bean as Maigret.

Yes we also enjoyed it   Although I must be honest it was hard not to see him as mr Bean kept watching for his facial expresions to change , but he kept a very serious miserable face all through it

Perhaps if one watched it on catch-up or better still as a dvd without the adverts it would be a better programme. It's the adverts that make up a fair amount of the time and one tends to lose the tread because of them

Mrs.WN almost never watches TV, but she knows these stories like the back of my hand, her hand I mean, so she's watching this at this very moment and I don't give it much hope judging by the verbal brickbats being flung at said TV.

Well the brickbats were for the adverts. She thought it was OK and at least stayed true to the story. High praise indeed!

Glad she enjoyed it. OH didn't like all the ads interupting the story, but will watch the next one, due later in the year.

I don't know if it was my imagination, but did there seem a lot more ads than usual?

I thought I heard that they were making more of them, but can't remember where I heard it.
