The Young Montalbano
Does anyone else enjoy this? I love it, particularly after watching the original Montalbano series. I find it mesmerising and the scenery makes me want to visit Sicily - which is probably what they are aiming for.

We are great fans of both series. Some of the story lines are quite interesting and could never happen in and English detective series. It certainly does show case Sicily.

We love both series, too, as does my brother. Last year he visited Sicily and tried to pick out some of the spots featured in the series - he has some great photographs!
The Montalbano books are great holiday reading, too - and give you more background dialogue, and interest, so even if you've seen the 'book title' as a programme, the book itself is just as interesting!

We love it, recorded the last two episodes and not to fall behind we watched them both in the same evening. With the subtitles it was like reading a book for a solid three hours and are quite adept at reading the subtitles and not losing the visual plot now Love the young Montalbano character.

My friend who is a teacher of Italian in the UK tells me that you can actually rent an apartment in the block used to film the original Montalbano. Its in
Punta Secca apparently. We've never been to Sicily but I feel tempted by the beautiful scenery.0 -
The Young Montalbano is a dead ringer for Fernado Alonso!!!!

I've thought that too. I haven't seen a lot of it but Scicily is picturesque and plenty of history.

Just watched episode 6 of 6. Sad it has finished. It comes to something when the best thing to watch on a Saturday night on TV is an Italian drama with English subtitles.....

Another huge fan of both TV series and books here! They did a later series of the original Montalbano last year, the actors looked slightly different, but still excellent viewing. Friends of ours who visited Sicily a couple of years ago said that his seafront
house is a holiday let and you can stay there! It is also a culinary and cultural delight, episode by episode!0 -
There is going to be a programme on today, talking to the author of the books Andrea Camilleri on

Just watched it. What a lively soul he is at 88. You can see how he projected his likes and feelings into the character of Montalbano.
