Dog care while away

I have used doggy daycare once in years while attending a conference in York. They were very clingy and stressed afterwards for a while. Nothing wrong with the kennels I am sure which were quite big. My solution is a Barjo Tailgate no I have no connection to Barjo! I was given mine by someone changing their Peogeot 405,. I moved it to my 405 and then 2 more smaller Peugeot's and 2 different Skodas. I snipped it down a bit then had a blacksmith increase the size. Now it fits the Outlander for my big dogs. I would need a blacksmith if I downsized the dogs to miniatures. The tailgate can be left up the guard padlocked and the car locked. This way my dogs are quite happy for a couple of hours. Plenty of time to do most gardens and houses or back to the car for walkies and picnic. Rosemoor has masses of shaded parking with picnic tables. The NEC is doable too. I also have a chain so the tailgate is almost closed in warm wet weather etc. They are never stressed or hot when I return. And after the daycare fiasco I am convinced.

we have checked with the organisers of the N.E.C show and dogs are NOT allowed except for assistance dogs. Thank you to the poster who suggested looking at dog buddies. Lots of people have dogs and have to go out to work and leave them a few hours a day
and there are times when it is not possible to take them with ( a close relatives funeral a couple of hundred miles away in our case) and that was an exception.0 -
There is an alternative which we tried quite a few times when our old boy George was too old to walk far but Harry still needed lots of exercise.
Put up a notice in the information area asking if anyone would be prepared to look after yours for a day while you were out walking/visiting in exchange for doing the same thing in return for their dog(s) on another day. You'd be surprised how willing to
help out other folk are!
I dare say we'll have to do the same thing in a couple of years time when Harry's not so active himself.
A much better alternative to unfamiliar kennels, we think.

I'd love to borrow someone dog for a few hours..it would be cared for like it was my own.
One day we may get another but not just yet so alittle bit of doggy therapy is great...so put some posters up people i'll do it
