Sheep Worrying

Over the bank holidays 4 dogs have been shot here in North wales for sheep worrying, No one us suggesting they were owned by caravaners but the answer is " No dog should be off a lead in the countryside".  No matter about the rights and wrongs once the dog
is dead it remains dead."

    A sad state of affairs Fish. As someone who has witnessed the carnage from Dog attacks on Sheep & Lambs I fully support all Farmers who need to resort to this form of action. As Farmers are in the main Dog lovers they do this as a last resortSad

    Really sad when a minority of dog owners know better.  Ive spoken to owners whose dogs have been off the lead in Nature Reserves despite signs saying keep dog on short lead.  Invariably the response has been F Off.  Unfortunately my experience is that only
    a very few owners have total control of their pet when off the lead.  As above I support the action of the farmer.

    Sheep and Wales always raises a smile,----------- but sheep worrying is deadly serious and if a farmer witnesses any dog attacking his sheep or lambs or chasing a pregnant ewe, as far as I'm concerned shoot the dog first ,, ask questions later.

    Very sad but I have to agree K, unfortunately, once again, it is really the dog owners who are at fault! They should be prosecuted too and losses incurred awarded to the farmer along with substantial other damage charges!

    Likewise I have no sympathy for Dog owners who think they know better and let dogs off leads. I say again once the dog is dead it remains dead and no sympathy for the owners.

    We live surrounded by sheep farms here.  We wouldn't ever dream of letting a dog off lead near sheep! However our (now ex) friends, thought we were being paranoid.  They were what we would call "townies".  I don't know whether or not that makes a difference
    about the way people think?  Maybe people who don't live in the countryside don't appreciate that sheep (or other livestock) are a farmers livelyhood?
