The very first wildlife trust was conceived in Norfolk and came into being  90 years ago on 6 March 1926 when 12 gentlemen purchased 435 acres of Cley marshes with the idea of creating a bird breeding sanctuary for all time.  The same gentlemen purchased
a number of different sites within the county with varying habitats from costal to woodland and Breckland.  From these relative small and local beginnings there are now 47 county wildlife trusts country wide.  Norfolk WT will be holding various activities
throughout the year to celebrate the milestone. If you visit Norfolk this year please check out www.norfolkwildlifetrust.com

And a beautiful habitat the salt marshes are at Cley. I'm there at least once a month and Twitchers abound but I'm heading for the smoke house where I get my lovely kippers!

Just received a rather nice "90 years " car sticker with our N.W.T. renewal package.

We're not from Norfolk, but visit so often that it makes financial sense to be a member. And of course, we like to do our bit to support the Trust.

Love the cakes in the cafe at Cley reserve, the best anywhere...
