The latest club magazine has an article about Scotland which shows an alternative route to the west. It avoids the Loch Lomond route.

Copilot app on my phone allows a range of customisation including setting speed for journey time calcukations, road preferences, and vehicle type including towing. If your sat nav doesnt then you beed toupgrade to one which does.
Write your comments here...Mine definitely needs upgrading. It doesn't even recognise postcodes. You have to type in the whole address and hard luck if it's a block of flats or house with a name and no number!

I agree MM! And as for Loch Lomond, totally over rated tourist trap - there are other far better places to visit in Scotland.....and I am part Scot.
Loch Lomond is fine in places but if you are refering to the area at the South end around Balloch then you are right. Furthyer up the West the council has it seems gone to war with Luss by making the only car park one hour max which is pointless if you want
to stop for a meal or a boat trip.The East coast of thye Loch and further North though are far less crowded and not a problem for visitors.

If speed is of the essence, then tak' the low road as it is reputed to be quicker than the high road. You may, however have to forgo a tryst with your true love.

I agree .... it's beautiful. We've been to a beautiful CL near Dryman a couple of times, the first time was in a Septemeber when the weather was fantastic all week

The view on the low road is pretty good and you have a chance to look at it as well.

As the "Low Road" is the route used by the fairies to bring home that night the spirit of the recently deceased I shall continute to try to avoid it as long as possible.
Perhaps the words of the song will now make more sense.

We've just ordered our 1st ever Motorhome, we've never had a Cravan either. I know there is a legal speed limit of 60mph when towing a Caravan but what about Motorhomes? Is it 60mph like caravans or the same as all other vehicles (70 motoroway etc etc)

The speed limit for motorhomes depends on the unladen weight. If the ULW is more than 3050kg then the motorway/ dual carriageway speed limit is 60mph.

It depends on the unladen weight of the MH, as far as I'm aware, as does your entitlement to use the outside lane of a motorway, FB.
Our 3050kg unladen MH allows us to do the same speeds and use the same m/way lanes as a solo car. Husky's info refers to a higher weight MH.
I can't quote chapter and verse but you should find all you need on the DVLA website.

I've written my understanding of it, Husky, but everything is open to our interpretation. PG9 seems to think the same as I do.
What is your ULW? My guess is that it's over 3050kg.

So , 70 it is , but I usually travel at 60 ,for me its about right ,and I can see if anyone waves at me
Write your comments here... Our caravan is stable at 60 and could probably exceed this without problem but the fuel consumption would go through the roof so just under 60 feels right to me.
