Depending upon location it's a busy place all year round these days. Nice place though and I hope you have a great time.

Don't think so harryb! We visit every couple of years, going to the same lovely B&B, we last went at the beginning of July and most places were packed. If you haven't been for 20 years then I think you will really notice the difference. Such a beautiful
place and so many people want to enjoy it. However, we did walk up to Moss Eccles Tarn one evening and only saw two other couples, beautiful views. Four years ago we made a visit in January, it was quieter then!0 -
The coach loads of UK and many other nations "wrinklies" tend to hatch now to all the "honey pot" locations
Ps we are not immune to coaching it

First time I read that as "honey bucket" and though why are they visiting chemical closet emptying points!

Agree with DEBSC, if it's that long since you visited the Lakes you will definitely find it much busier these days. Where are you staying?

We are at a cl just out of Cockermouth. The A66 from Penrith to here was very quiet. We saw the advanced warnings for the Tour of Britain on the 5th
Which one & would you recommend it, Harry? We're looking at the possibility of heading that way later in the month.

It's called Greenacre no doubt after thr field you pitch on. Its about 3 miles SW of Cockermouth and is central for the western lakes and coast. The field is large well maintained grass but is sloping. Facing west there are extensive views over the local
countryside. Each pitch has ehu, water and drain and there is a shower room (50p) and separate toilet. Site is very easy to find using the handbook instructions. Nightly fee is £14, a little high by our standards but overall it is worth it. Very friendly owner

The best pub food for miles around can be found at the Kirkstile Inn. Turn left off the A5086 at Mockerkin Tarn ,go up the hill past my house and in a couple of miles you will see the signs for the Inn which is down by Loweswater church. Try a pint of Loweswater

Gold.We went there for coffee this morning. Thought the pub was lovely. Sorry but the price wasn't. 2 coffees and 2 slices of cake was £11.10p I've never seen coffee cost 55p more than cake
