How many people belong to both CC and C&CC

Been with both since starting caravanning nearly 4 years ago. As we go to the continent regularly I reckon we have saved our subscription fee in club ferry deals (and not to mention the £500 or so saved on a free towbar with our new car)
We have used sites from both and have found little to choose between them.

Currently a member of both. Have stuck with the CC but dropped C&CC membership several times. May drop CC this year but undecided. Well I say undecided as I want to drop it but OH wants to keep it.
I find more variation in C&CC sites than the CC. Have stayed on some fairly rough ones but also a really great one. CC is far more consistent. C&CC invariably works out more expensive for us. CSs in the areas we want to visit always seem to be a higher price
than CLs. We haven't rallied with either and haven't used a THS as there hasn't been one where we want to be at the time we are going.There's no need to join either club though

We stared out with a tent so joi ed the C&CC. We did not join this club until we were on our second caravan and then essentoally because the girls wanted to go to Blackpool. We stayed with both for some years but after a bad eerience on a C&CC site we left
them for a while but have since rejoined. We use both clubs sites but more CC ones but like the extra choice.0 -
We are members of both clubs but mostly we use CC club sites. We are memebrs of the C&CC mainly because we use their sites at Luss and Moffat on a regular basis also we have used their site in Oxford which was great very handy for walking in to the city

We're in both but use CC sites far more often as facilities tend to be much better. However, membership of C&CC gives us more options and, as Clare Moreton says, their insurance is much cheaper and (as we found out after a blow-out) realy good; they opted
for the dearest quote to repair the damage!0 -
We are members of both, but don't tend to use C&CC sites that often. Tend to use these sites more when we go with friends, as they will do their best to site groups together. Just using them a couple of times a year still makes it worthwhile being members.

We only use cl/cs's but relinquished our C&CC membership last year because we got fed up of overcrowding on their cs sites.

Been with both for over three decades because they both "work" for us. The CC mainly for its CLs and insurance but the C&CC is and always has been by far the most suitable for our style of rallying and THSs.
Both remain worth the membership subs given how they facilitate using our far from modest "investment" in a suitable car and van; the depreciation of these alone making the membership costs added together a trivial percentage of the overall cost we lay out for our hobby.

Only a member of the CC now, dont like being told which site i must go on (yes, i know you are supposed to be able to choose, but on several occasions we werent given an alternative....because we were a motorhome.the sites were not full). Much prefer the

ehu.At certain times,when sites are full, there may be no choice or very limited choice. Likewise at Crystal Palace CC site pitches are allocated. (Only once when the site had very low occupancy were we told to pitch where we wished. However, it has never

CCC has a policy of 6 metres separation of units (3 metres from car to next van/tent.)

Having fitted a large solar panel and Safefill we too have been thinking about the CCC , with the dwindling amount of basic CL's in CC , thought CS' s would give us a bigger choice .
Does anybody know the basic proportion in the CCC ? also does the CCC allow price reduction if you choose not to use hookup ?

yes, the CCC does have a reduction for non ehu...
also, if into this type of camping, the CCC's THS temp hol sites are a great way to enjoy it, with no booking at around £8 a night.

The C&CC Temp Holiday Sites network are like a breath of fresh air if you dislike booking and prefer your own (bought and paid for) "facillities".
Around £8 to £10 per night sounds about right to me for a camping pitch. Some of these sites asking £20 to £40 are ok if you like that kind of thing but frankly at those prices I would spend a bit more and stay in a Hotel or rent a cottage.

CC&C price for EHU was £4.20 (I think or £4.50 for EHU) a few weeks ago when I went without. Seemed a great saving to do without! Unfortunately I thought I was running low on the Safefill - next time I will use a torch to confirm what the gas level is
- but they kindly allowed me to plug in for the last nigh. Luckily I had two cables with me and a joining box that I had needed in France when helping my brother.0 -
We are members of both, joined the CC for a site near family and also Mayday.
Now classed as Veterans of the C&CC so our annual membership is reduced, also camping fees outside high season. Don't have to book in advance for Rallies or Holiday sites, are members of one of their Special Interest groups, so over a full season of 70 to
80 nights there can be quite a saving.0 -

Just to clarify as Pippah45's info on page 5 is incorrect (sorry!!)
At CCC sites there is a price per person for a grass pitch (standard pitch). This would not have ehu.
A grass pitch which has ehu (called a "Club grass service pitch") costs an extra £4 per night.
A "Club hard standing pitch" (ie. hardstanding with ehu) costs an exta £5 per night (ie £1 more for hardstanding than for grass).
When booking you select which of the 3 types of pitch you want (assuming all 3 are available).
Note there are a small number of sites which do not have standard pitches so ehu would have to be paid for on those.

We used to be members of both, only kept on CC at moment for CLs. You don't have to be a member of C&CC to use listed sites, so this suits us. Would rejoin if we needed more places to choose from, but we are doing fine at moment.
What the C & CC refer to as "listed sites" are in fact commercial sites, listed for information to members.
Maybe you mean "Certificated Sites" which are under the juresdiction of the C & CC and are (should be) for members only.
{Having said that, I did once stay for 2 nights on a CC CL before I became a member of the CC.

To clarify - the C&CC don't allocate pitches.....
Write your comments here ..Ian H., Have they changed their procedures then ? If so, when did they do it ? I left the C&CC 4 years ago, precisely because of this practise, which i disliked. Might consider joining again if they have stopped Showing you to your Pitch ! and instead let you choose from the empty ones available.

Ray, we always choose a pitch with CCC....mot sure if there was policy change per se, but this is certainly the current experience for us...

Ray - I think they changed the policy a couple of years ago, although they may still allocate pitches in high season when we don't use them. Certainly the C&CC sites we've stayed on in the last couple of years have allowed us to chose our pitches from any
available - they do still go with you to your chosen pitch, but mainly to just make sure you like it and everything's OK. Have to say that 3 of the nicest sites we've stayed at this year have been C&CC (Devizes, Priddy & Polstead). Well worth the membership
fee!

Usually the warden of a C&CC site will take you to available pitches after asking if there's an area of site you prefer. Once at the pitches you select one and the warden will help you pitch if required.

The final straw for us was at Culzean Castle in Ayr, was told i had to pitch down a heavily shaded hard standing, lane. Because i was a motorhome, no other choices. Loads of other pitches available. This was after a previous spat with the manager from Barnard
Castle, who also wouldnt let us choose a pitch, although many were empty, when we arrived. No, think i will stick with the CC. Prefer Wardens to Managers.0
