Hitchlock .... Do I leave it on when travelling?
hello are you supposed to put hitchlock back on when youve hitched up and are travelling ? To stop the little black handle jumping up ? Cheers mrs bc:)

General advice is not to do that just in case you are involved in any incident that requires the caravan to be unhitched in a hurry. The "black handle" should lock into place and not require any means of keeping it down?

As DK says no, for the reason he has given and also so that the caravan can detach from the towing vehicle should the forces involved in an accident bring this about.

Agree, don't leave it on when actually travelling. But keep it to hand and whack it on if you're planning to stop and leave the van hitched up en route, say at motorway services ( although, personally I'd never do that!) Just one extra disincentive to any
would be thieves!0 -

Might be advisable to put it on should you stop at a M-Way Service Station and think of leaving your unit.
