2017 model changes
Any thoughts yet on the 2017 changes outlined in PC magazine? Surprised that Bailey have apparently little new other than the rumour the Pursuit range is due for replacement in the next year. End bedrooms and central bathrooms seem to be the new fashion
albeit doesn't work for us.

Don't Bailey only upgrade every two years? They do have a major new range of motorhomes being introduced with Euro 6 engines(with prices to match!) so perhaps they are concentrating on that side of the business for 2017?

My thoughts are what on earth have Lunar done to the Gas Locker Panel on the Clubman. Definitely will be a marmite thing.

Hi Easy, it's not on the PC website as yet. If you can imagine the current Clubman but with the locker door painted gloss black, that's the facelift on that range. They have got a full length sunroof in the living area and introduced a layout like our Sterling, with a bedroom at the back and bathroom in the middle.

I did see earlier that Bailey were not changing the Pegasus and Unicorn ranges but a new Pursuit is coming out soon. The explanation was apparently the Pegasus and Unicorns were selling so well they saw no reason to change them.
Not seen the new Lunars but not keen on different coloured gas lockers on other makes. I also felt the white locker doors on last years models was a backward step.
Centre bathrooms doseem to be getting more common so they must be selling. For two couples it is probably the best option.

I think you hit the nail perfectly there Wildwood. We managed to get the last 1 of 5 mid bathroom/rear bedroom Sterlings our dealer had allocated to them.
It is a couples van, in my opinion there isn't enough storage space for any more than that. I find the bedroom makes a lovely den for reading.

For those of you that are keen on Elddis, the big news appears to be that the Compass and Avante's are now 8 Ft wide like the Bucaneers (Not sure if it's all models in those ranges or just some).
Haven't quite worked out if the other Explorer brands are also 8 Ft wide.

I agree that they should concentrate on quality, rather than making changes for the sake of changes. It must disrupt the production line and not for the good.
And if the best that someone can come up with is painting the cassette door black, then it's time they gave up!

Can't argue with that one.

I agree with the quality comments and have said before the first manufacturer to get to grips with QC investment at the factory will soon see the benefit in lower warranty costs, enhanced reputation, improved sales and profits. Our 2 month old van has so
far had leaking shower due to missing sealant, light switch failure due to poor wiring, out of level worktop and drawer runner repeatedly coming loose due to wrong screws used.0 -
No-one has mentioned 'stylish new decals/graphics' for 2017.

while the 2017 caravan 'updates' seem to have left many distinctly underwhelmed, the What Motorhome review of the upcoming vans is rather to the contrary.....some really interesting efforts.....

Jay, im not sure if you were referring to caravans (im guessing you were) but i agree that all the innovative stuff for this year is from France and Germany...
...oh, Bailey had a new L-shaped half dinnete option with lounge pedestal table....how Teutonic is that?
Chausson now do drop down beds as transverse double, separate longitudinal singles and even a one piece 'island' double....customer' choice.
Hobby (and others) now have slide-away (into the garage) toilets that leave a huge shower room behind....
some posters were talking about having more than two MH-style captains chairs.....well, Chausson now have four, all with full belts and two habitation doors, one each side for easy access and no disputes on CC sites re: pitching
Hymer have added to their slimline ranges....a U-shaped rear lounge, and a one-box design with 3 captains chairs...
for a treat, check out the new N+B Smove, a slightly narrower streamlined coachbuitl with 'normal' Ducato cab flared in....a first for Neissmann, who have only done full A-classes till now...price....oops...£85-100k.....obviously
at the bottom end of their rangeone for Kjell, check out the new Roller Team Pegaso A-class at around £60k.....

Yes I was talking about caravans - I rarely look at MHs at this stage as we aren't interested in one but I usually take a look at a show. In fact I found a Hobby last year that came second to the Knaus Sport and Fun as my 'unit of the year'
Hymer are targeting the UK market with the Nova models and Knaus are expanding the UK Starclass range with more models. I haven't seen details at this stage though. There won't be much innovation I suspect but they will be serious contenders against the
top range UK vans. Weinsberg are aiming at the lightweight, entry level, family market. With the pound weak they won't be as attractive a proposition as they were in May though0 -
Not a lot so far this year. Eldiss moving most of their range to 8 ft looks the biggest thing. Not at all sure how that will work out but it is a brave move. More than most though I think improving their quality control would have been the best move although
the others might do that also. The Compass range in light blue is different. Need to see the real thing though before I make my mind up on that one.
Lunar have lined the shower in the Venus which is good and given them a manual toilet. Reading about the problems with electric ones that looks like it is a better idea than it first appears. Do not like the coloured front locker lids in black though.
