Are you daft?

Quite a few years ago, I 'hitched up the caravan' but forgot to take out the maroon coloured Alko 'ball'. Of course, because the ball was in the hitch, the 'safety button' was showing green. Several people were taking to me at the time. As I pulled away
the hitch jumped off the tow ball and ended up on the floor, breaking my breakaway cable.David
Done almost the same thing myself.Tha van looked for all intents and purposes to be hitched up ok
pulled away and it dropped on the road breaking the breakaway cable

The one that worked out best was when we booked a sailing on the Portsmouth St Malo ferry. I managed to read the 24 hour clock 20.00 hours as 10 pm. We arrived just in time to see the ferry sailing out. The staff at the ferry terminal were very good and
managed to book us on the Caen ferry that sailed at 10 pm.As it turned out the route to the site took us past St Malo where we saw the ferry we had booked just coming in so we arrived at the site a bit earlier than we would have otherwise.
Even better when we got home we got a cheque from Brittany Ferries for £50 to cover the cheaper sailing.

I'm glad we weren't the only ones to fall for this one. I'm sorry that it happened to you too though DSB

It's so easily done Jenny and Volvoman. I'll never do it again though. Virtually everytime I hitch up, I think of the little Red ball incident...

Mine was when we had a caravan was trying to use the mover with the handbrake still on and thinking this is taking ages and why is it bouncing around

Am I daft mark 2. Got back to the storage engaged the mover, unhitched the van, put the mover into reverse but had forgotten to unclip the breakaway cable. Now unlike Ian's the cable didn't break but it pulled the handbrake on. Now couldn't move the van
forward to unclip the cable as it was tight on the handbrake. Had to get back in the car and reverse very carefully enough to give some slack to get the cable off.0 -

I think that the majority of members who use movers have all done that. I certainly have.

Just this afternoon I found a friends five year old son had opened the boot when at the back of the car. My problem was that the salesman had said you open it with the key fob and now over four years later I discovered there was also a button.

If you want to know how things work these days ask the young'ns. They know the ins and out all mechanical things, especially concerning good places to hide!

Its usually the computerised things that I need them for. Finding a small black bit of rubber opens the boot a was bit of a surprise.
