Fresh water yes or no?

Some of the waste empty points for motorhomes are indeed poor. They were probably fine 25 years ago but motorvans are not all small and easy these days
Even brand new sites have not a clue about useability. The new Morris liesure affiliated site at Ludlow has 1 grate and if your outlet is on the offside you have to face downhill resulting in only the top half of the waste tank draining.
Bridlington CC too very poor despit being a new build.
Beechwood grange fitted an extra grate but to use it you block the road.
Fine examples of the Club not moving fast enough with the times. There are a few sites where they are pretty good, Southport and Seacroft spring to mind and hasn't that dreadful MSVP point at Cherry Hinton been recently upgraded?

Dont know if pictures work? but if I was over the grate the circular route would not be wide enough for caravans to pass

I agree with some of the other posters, the Caravan Club are a tad behind the times. Motorhome owners are allowed to join however our needs aren't especially well catered for. Surely as members we should be able to access facilities to suit our needs.
We're not the same as caravaners, yet we're treated the same. Another good example of this is where there is no reduced fee, if you don't require electric hook up. The other lot do provide for this.It is not only motorhomers equipped to go off grid. You say 'We're not the same as caravaners, yet we're treated the same.' Did you want additional privelleges? What might they be?
I've already said it would be good to have a pitch which doesn't charge for electric, hardly a privilege!

Ah but to use a CC pitch but not use or be charged for EHU would be a privelege.
This is because CC sited are 'one size fits all'. When the EHU was first included in the pitch fee I was unaware as we went off on a 7 week holiday. We had no mains electric and so was paying for something that we really could not use.

I've not noticed people using a hose like that.
Usually, they seem to get as near as their judgement allows, open a tap and it either goes down the drain or down the road.
Not a good design....

We have a hose similar to that to cope with the eventuality of not being able to get close enough to the drain. It's common sense really.
PS. The hose weighs around 100g

Ours is conduit so is not so heavy duty.

I carry a 2.5 metre 40mm ID pipe so I can cope with most situations but most people don't have the room or the payload for what should be unnecessary
Write your comments here...that is one of the problems that the many years of m/vs should have addressed years ago ,,but as is usual designers do not use their products 1 have posted on hrer numeruos times that it only takes a 2 mtr flexible extention pipe
on the waste outlets to save the large expence of site owners to modify the disposal points that is only req by m/vans at no extra charge0 -
Whereas I have a massive two years of experience.

My hose is stored in a receptacle I fitted to the garage ceiling. anything less than 40mm and smooth bore will be slow and smelly

My Hydraulic rams (recently fitted) will tilt my van so the outlet is at the lowest point . Top right button

Your m/h appears to be on its roof!

I would imagine if it was a genuine emergency, and you would have stayed on the site if there had been space, most wardens would help you out.
If the club wants to go down this route and offer it as a regular service like the CCC then they will have to look at resiting the service points so traffic on the site roads is not increased. This would be especially important in view of the frequent instances of 'speeders' on sites already.

The RV discharged all waste - grey and black - down a 3 inch pipe. It wasnt smooth but it certainly wasnt slow and it really wasnt smelly either. Less smell from a full tank discharge than you get from emptying one cassette.

Not so. The diameter of the drain tap is often less than 40mm and the flow will not slow unless your hose is minute. Hoses are supplied on the waste dump station for rinsing the area down and it's a simple job to use that to rinse your own drain hose thus preventing smells.

My drain tap is 40mm OD
My previous British built van was 25mm with a convoluted hose and took forever

Some are, some aren't. I corrected my statement. Ours is 25mm and some are 15mm.
Ours drains quickly.

To those who think that the drain and fresh water facilities should be re-positioned outside the site barrier (or elsewhere) I would estimate the cost would be in the region of £10,000 or more.
Having witnessed the CC estates department in action on various projects, this figure could be far, far higher.
Add to this the fact that site access roads would probably be blocked for many weeks (I'm using the 2 years to refurbish the toilet block at Broadway as a benchmark) and the added lost income due to this........how many people paying £7.20 to empty their
waste would this require to recoup?0 -

If you were running the site as a private operation would you consider it? I would not. So why would the CC?0 -
I wouldn't have thought that obtaining enough water for a night, (say, a watering can full) would beyond the realms of anyone really. Just stop at any pub and politely ask? Or find a cemetery with a tap, most have them. As for emptying
grey water, how about down a road culvert? The elsan would be more problematical, need a special point for this, but would an experienced Motorhomer really and truly find themselves in such a desperate predicament? I doubt it very much. Certainly
not worth expecting the Club to provide facilities that would cost a lot of money and be too easy to vandalise. Maybe have some provision in tourist hotspot towns for wild campers, if there is enough call, with a small charge. But I would put money on them
being vandalised.0
