Just to say Well Done to our wardens.
Recently been touring using our club sites & a couple of private ones (as we have at other times). I am always grateful for the overall high stanards on club sites & therefore I say a big Thank You & Well Done to all our wardens. Hope others agree.

would totally agree, one of the unique selling points of the club

Yes, I agree. It's rare to meet a warden who's not friendly and up to the job.

all customer facing staff that serve us well are 'noted' for what they do..
in the past couple of months, the receptionist at Sandy Balls was totally on the ball, the lady who welcomed us to Lytton Lawn was as polite and friendly as could be, we were cordially greeted by the office staff at Tewkesbury CC, the owner of the Hucks
Barn CL at Ludlow made a special effort to come out and personally welcome all of his guests....etc, etc...while CC wardens are, in the main, perfectly pleasant and helpful when required, what they 'do' is certainly not unique...
we generally get treated equally well wherever we go...
..and the bad ones....just the same...not uniquely confined to CC.....there are poor customer facing staff in many organisations including CC.

Wardens can make or break a site ,,if any one takes notice of the way some post on here and site reviews, and mostly bad comments are by someone throwing their toys out of the pram ,because a warden was trying to uphold the rules that others want implementing to the letter

It's always good to redress the balance after some of the bashing that goes on! We've recently stayed at two CC sites, Lady Margaret's Park and Penrhos. Although we didn't have much direct contact with wardens apart from checking in (we're not on site much
during the day) they were, without exception friendly, helpful and, by appearance's sake, taking pride in the way the sites looked.

possibly its a case of 'damned if you do.....' etc...
with a rule laden organisation like CC, there will be many who feel the warden isnt doing enough to ....'stop speeding'...., 'sorting out 'poor' dog owners'....etc, etc...
similarly, there will be those who feel that some wardens go over the top in enforcing rules...perhaps even being 'petty'..
...whereas, with less 'rules' to be told about and to uphold, some other sites dont find their 'staff' being caught between these two stools....?

The owner of the last site we were on was friendly and helpful when he greated us on arrival and during our stay.
His wife gave us a bunch of sweet peas that she'd just cut, to put in our caravan.
Lovely!
We did the opposite. When my wife retired, we went off in the caravan straight away. She had so many flowers there was nowhere to put them. So gave them to the wardens who decorated reception.

I have yet to come across any CC warden who does not clean the toilets properly or maintain their site to an acceptable level.
They appear to book in new arrivals efficiently.
Apart from that, I don't need to have further contact with the warden staff during my stay apart from the usual good morning etc when passing.
Reference a post earlier, I am firmly in the " The wardens are employed to ensure, (for the good of everybody), that everybody behaves in the manner laid down by the ON - Site rules of the CC" camp..
If a member flaunts those rules, they should be dealt with by the Warden staff.
I choose a site because of it's location,---- who is in the warden's office is totally irrelevant.

Would agree to a certain extent Ken, but there are many exceptional wardens. We arrived at one site to find someone had graffitied the back of our van during our journey. The warden not only found something to help clean it off but also helped. On another
occasion, one of our windows sprung a leak and, as we were fixing it, the warden came across to ask if we had all the necessary tools we needed as he might be able to lend us something. Just that little bit extra that makes a stay at a site betterif we've experienced these 'above and beyond' actions, how many more might there be?

Micky etc will be along in a minute......
just a tad later than suggested but to be quite honest I would really not disagree with the comments above. Seems like the consensus of opinion and experience is that I would echo! They do an excellent job managing (or using their legitimate discression) when running sites in my opinion.
Is that opinion okay?

"I choose a site because of it's location,---- who is in the warden's office is totally irrelevant."
Exactly what we and, I guess, the vast majority of folks do too - and I don't think anyone has actually said they choose a site specifically because of the wardens have they, at least not on this thread. But
there's nothing wrong with showing appreciation and a thank you for maintaining sites in good condition - the same goes for owners of private sites and CLs/CSs of course.0 -

to the letterI dont know about make a site, do people actually choose a site because they like the warden?
I would agree about breaking one though, there is one club site we would never use again unless a particulat warden left.
..You seem to have contradicted yourself

Erm, JVB, i dont think he did...
he said he wouldnt agree with you about 'making a site' but gave anecdotal evidence about how a warden could break a site....
i dont think thats contradicting himself, is it?

Wardens can make or break a site
Write your comments here...I dont see that, like most prople apart from booking in, booking out and being woken by the tractors I do not normally see or indeed speak to the warders.
Did have a bit of an officous one at Battle recently who asked us to move the van as we were not exactly level with the peg.. Pointed out that the pitch we were on was well away from any others (6m+) and the next one was unoccupied and as we were staying
only 1 night it would be OK.0 -
like all other things that deal with their customers face to face, shops, resturants, hotels, staff on trains... and club sites they can do their jobs in a satisfactory manner, or they can add a liitle something and make the situation a pleasure. They can
also do their job badly and spoil your enjoyment. So yes club staff can make or break a site0 -

Sometimes we can make or break our own experiences. Just being politely asked to conform to rules, receiving an instruction which we don't really want to listen too (for whatever reason) or having a request turned down because circumstances or rules don't
allow for it can effect one's perception of those managing a situation, particularly those in the service industry.Sometimes looking at the reviews of places makes me think that the sour grapes are often from those who did not get their 'own' way. Of course there are 'bad apples' and bad service but we too can occasionally be our own 'worst enemies' so to speak. Whose
heard of the term jobsworth? This term, I reckon, is often freely used by those who haven't got their own way.0
