Which Caravan Club?

We are members of both but generally find that CC sites are better - especially the toilet blocks and reception areas. We tend not to use the C&CC sites very often these days, but tend to reserve it for when we are going with a group of units. They tend to be more flexible with regards to pitching people together, in a group. Also with the C&CC, you can book hardstandings.
On the other hand, I always find CC sites better laid out and the roads around the sites are generally more substantial. With the CC you can book a full serviced pitch, but the C&CC have few (if any??) full serviced pitches.
Each has its advantages and disadvantages, but overall we prefer CC sites.

Ive been a member of both but only CC member now. I prefer the more flexible booking system.
but my main advice is if you have an area where you like holidaying quite a bit have a look and see what sites each club has in the area. It might be that one club has a much better situated (for you) site or it may be that in that area one of the club's
has a very popular site which is hard to get a pitch on.0 -
I like the C&CC siting arrangements. It is good to discus the most suitable pitch with someone who knows the site well. It beats wandering arround aimlessly as is common on CC sites. I do not like the 1 o'clock arrival rule, but then like most people I do
not like to be told when to come or go. I love the OAP discount. CC sites are usually more formal and maybe smarter.0 -
How does the C&CC overseas trips insurance compare with Red Pennant?
I have not checked them line by line but on the face of it they are near enough the same but different providers. We have used both but never had a claim to test them out.
Write your comments here...Touch wood my answer is the same for overseas. However I had one rather slow start to a recovery in this country but then I have had the same from ALL major breakdown companies over the years. I have left them all except the RAC who have been the least bad. The AA left me 6 hours with a small baby, Green flag left my teenage daughter in the middle of the night etc etc.

Snowy a lot of us are members of both - to give us more options - I didn't join the C &CC until fairly recently and I really enjoy their THSs (Temporary Holiday Sites). In some cases their sites are not so well kept - I was recently at St Neotts and the
roads in the site would cause a lot of grumbles from CC members! But the location far outweighs that for me. A big advantage of the CC is not having to pay a deposit on bookings and the ability to book in advance and cancel outside of 72 hours of arrival.
C&CC also give discounts to the over 55s which is much appreciated. Some people claim the 3 Cs choose your pitch for you - but I have found that they ask me what I want/need and then escort me to the appropriate pitch. As a Solo Caravanner I find generally
they ARE the more friendly club. I think if I had to choose - if it wasn't for CT - I would desert the CC - but I am lucky to be able to remain with both!I guess you need to know how much you might use either Club for your particular style of Caravanning and also where you want to go for the best choice of sites.

the entitlement of my younger wife to ACR until she reached 60 this year.If you are of a similar age range to my OH you may well have qualified for ACR at 55.I hope that this clarifies things.0 -
I’m a member of both clubs and use both the clubs sites about equally, the choice is usually down to location. The sites are slightly different but I wouldn’t say one is better than the other, just different.
The main advantage I get with the CCC is the caravan insurance always works out cheaper and the saving all but pays for the yearly membership fee.

ive tried CCC for a home insurance quote twice (as they have 180 days away cover which may be in one trip) but they have always been far more expensive than our current provider, Saga.
also, CCC are happy for you to find your own pitch should you be happy to do so....they do not march you round the site and insist you take the pitch 'they choose' for you....
yes, as above, they are happy to make recommendations (for sun, shade, quiet etc) or to even to guide you round until one catches your eye, but they do not 'book you onto a specific pitch of their choice'....this would certainly
alienate some who are used to 'pottering'......0 -

We've never been "marched" anywhere, by anyone in many years of caravanning. The C&CC wardens may or may not suggest certain pitches depending on the site. In the absence of "park on the peg' discipline of the CC the C&CC need to ensure sensible locations are chosen, for the convenience of other campers, which they ensure with polite assistance, but they don't march or bully people. In fact I've always found them to be very friendly and helpful.

I quite agree Jenny they are most helpful. I recently spent one night on a CC site near a ferry and I was "marched" on that one. I spoke to wardens explaining and was told they would lock the gate at 9 whether I was there or not. Fair enogh I suppose but when I arrived at 8.35 I was told they were about to lock the gate! Then that I had no choice of pitch and was put on a very noisy one. If one night stays are allowed ( long may that continue) I think we deserve decent treatment! No I didn't complain just relating the experience as almost anything like that can happen with either club. In general I find the friendly club more friendly than the CC but both are still good

Member of both for many years. Which is best for you is personal to you and depends on what you want from your club. CC has more sites but is losing CLs every year and centres are often struggling. But you can book and cancel club sites easily. CCC is
increasing site numbers. If you are a no or few facilities caravanner then CCC might well be much cheaper- you can opt for no ehu or hard standing and pay less at club sites. Access along narrow roads is also better with CCC because of the depart/arrival time
rules which are enforced. CC sites are very predictable in service and layout which some like. We have found CCC much friendlier and HQ much more member orientated. To put my comments in perspective I first joined CC in 1969, and CCC in 2003.0
